Millions Like Us / The Story of the Mod Revival 1977-89 / 4CD set

Cherry Red will release Millions Like Us: The Story of the Mod Revival in December.

The four-CD set compiles a generous 100 tracks from the 1977 -1989 era (see full track listing below) and includes music from bands like The Untouchables, The Lambrettas, Purple Hearts, The Prisoners and Merton Parkas.

As per the label’s 2013 indie-pop collection Sacred to Get Happy, this will be packaged as a lavish bookset and like that excellent release, Millions Like Us benefits from some very appealing graphic design.

Millions Like Us: The Story of the Mod Revival is released on 8 December 2014.

  1. I’ve had this set on pre-order for two weeks. Nice to see a wider overview set of the era rather than the usual stand alone single disc compilations or artist anthologies. It takes me back to when I was an extra in ‘Quadrophenia’. I think it is actually a strength of the set that The Jam are not on it. They would only overshadow everything else, this set is about who they inspired. Now if Cherry Red could do their next book set on the Two-Tone / Ska scene then that would be a perfect partner.

  2. There’s some good stuff here, and I agree the “Scared to Get Happy” collection was beautifully curated too. Probably a licensing/cost issue, but it doesn’t seem right that the Jam aren’t represented somehow. Ditto the Smiths on STGH. Will still invest tho’
