New content added to Richard Wright blu-ray
Fans feedback listened to
When the reissue of Richard Wright’s Wet Dream was announced earlier this month, fans were delighted to see that a blu-ray audio option was available and that Steven Wilson had created new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes of the 1978 album.
However, there was criticism in some quarters (including from some SDE readers), that the original stereo mix of the album was missing, with many people feeling that this should have been included.
The good news is that this fan feedback has clearly filtered through to Richard’s family, the estate and the label, since a flat transfer of the original pre-master of the 1978 stereo mix, taken from the analogue reels, will now be included!
Additionally, Steven Wilson 2023 instrumental stereo mixes of the four vocal tracks on the album will also be added, making what was already a very good blu-ray a now truly excellent one.
The blu-ray content is now as follows:
- Dolby Atmos MIx
- 5.1 Surround Mix (DTS-HD Master Audio 96/24)
- New Stereo Mix in Hi-Res (96/24)
- Flat transfer of the original stereo mix
- Steven Wilson instrumental stereo mixes of the four vocal tracks on the album
- Exclusive personal videos and photo gallery
The product is presented in a blu-ray-sized book format with soft touch lamination and comes with four collectible postcards and an 8-page concertina booklet.
The Wet Dream blu-ray audio is released on 29 September 2023, via Parlophone music. It’s available via the SDE shop using this link or the buttons below.
TECHNICAL NOTES: This blu-ray audio requires a blu-ray player. Decoding the Dolby Atmos mix requires a Dolby Atmos-certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos-compatible AV Receiver/Amp. The Dolby Atmos mix will ‘fold down’ to 5.1 or stereo if a Dolby Atmos decoder is not detected.
EU SHIPPING NOTES: If you are ordering from the EU please be aware that that goods may be subject to import VAT when they arrive from the UK. The prices the SDE shop charge you do not include VAT

The release date for the Blu-Ray appears to have been pushed back to October 20th for the UK and November 10th for the USA.
I thought I moght be just suited with the CD and the new remix – but this now will make me re-consider sighting out for the blu ray. Wonderful that the public discussion about the intended content, done in decent manner, reached the curators of this and triggered the upgrade. Better value for the money is the only righteous enemy of good value for the money. :-)
That and Forty Licks is being released “digitally” on Atmos. Please put that one out on Blu Ray.
Thank you, Paul, and to the Wright family for making this wise decision, and for being so responsive to music fans’ reasonable suggestions. This is a blueprint for how re-releases should be made.
Very much looking forward to it!
It does feel like the dynamic Hi Res stereo & surround Blu Ray format is starting to gain traction.
Hoping this is the new standard:
Original stereo flat transfer
New stereo remix flat transfer
New stereo instrumental mix
5.1 surround
Atmos surround
If we can get non-album singles and b-sides as well that would be perfection.
I love vinyl but I love a dynamic Hi Res Blu Ray even more!
How nice. Seriously.
I’m utterly speechless with pride. We are the small minority, in a streaming world, to react loudly enough on this site as well as the SHF to get our voices out to the labels to finally listen. With this news I’ll be purchasing this bluray along with my cd I had previously pre-ordered. The estate listened and delivered some great bonuses. I hope this site can command enough push for the folks at UMe to FINALLY release a physical edition of the Revolver 2022 remix on high-rez, 5.1 and atmos on bluray. It’s now a niche segment but I’m glad there are people like the Wright estate, Steve Wilson, and the kind folks at Rhino (whom recently released a various set of Quadio mixes on bluray) to put out great physical product to folks that actually want to PAY for music.
Great comments, I wish that the Chicago Quadio Box set would get a re issue as that goes for serious money now and a few years back on here was listed in the Deals section (wish I’d have jumped on it then). The SDE site has to be commended and Paul’s enthusiasm for the format has really made a difference for all our listening pleasures.
Wow properly stoked at getting a box set on a disc, now where is that Broken China remix
We now need the first 3 releases from Roger Waters and the first 2 from David Gilmour.
How about Nick Masons solo efforts?
Pros and Cons would be a sonic adventure in surround along with David’s first solo outing.
Come on guys. Get with the program.
I agree – it’s a pity David more or less ignores his own early work. He also never played anything from it on his later solo tours.
I would also love a Blu-ray release of Live in Gdansk! It would really deserve it.
After how many different releases for Gdansk, you would of thought there was a BR release – but nope.
Agree that David has ignore the early albums on tour and otherwise.
I’ve always said you should never drive at night listening to On An Island on a country road or highway with no street/highway lights and traffic….
It seems that Steven Wilson already did a new surround mix of David Gilmours first solo album. Around the same time as Ricks “Wet dream”- mix. God (and David Gilmour) only knows, when it will see the light of day. So, fingers crossed for more to come..
Well, Nick’s solo albums did get a release with his “White of the Eye” soundtrack (with Rick Fenn) as the “Unattended Luggage” CD and Vinyl sets, so don’t see another release any time soon.
Roger’s solo output is criminally neglected. Only Amused to Death got a 5.1 mix (well, there was an SACD release of The Wall Live in Berlin and of Ca Ira), his live albums are all barebone releases and no remastering on his other solo works. Pretty sorry state of affairs.
That’s absolutely fantastic. Now we’re really looking at a product with great value. (He said as one of the people complaining the loudest about the missing original mix…) I’m very happy!
Here’s to hoping the same fan feedback reaches Gilmour and he releases a blu-ray of his debut.
Alright, you convinced me. Purchased!
Excellent news re the updated content.
Quick question, Paul – what are the criteria for some albums receiving only 5.1 mixes, awhile other get a full Atmos mix? Any ideas?
TIA!
Depends on who’s mixing them [capabilities].
I love it when the fan base is actually heard.
This is really amazing and I am cautiously optimistic that it bodes well for a Broken China release in 3 years.
I do enjoy Wet Dream, having owned the original CD for a while, but Broken China was on a different level. Just an amazing album.
I am glad the estate of Richard Wright have augmented the Blu-ray with what fans had requested. If only it were that simple with Pink Floyd as well… (DSotM 50th anniversary SDE, I am looking at you!).
