As a huge DM fan it feels me with no joy what they currently release. Hopefully once these overpriced vinyl sets are done they may give their fans something actually worthwhile. I mean for one they could rerelease all the VHS stuff on blu or even DVD come to that matter. Not hopeful mind the band seem tone deaf to their fans although that could be partly due to Sony. It’s such a shame as Memento Mori wasn’t a bad album but they seem incapable of a decent special edition. Well unless you want overpriced vinyl from albums that at best had one decent track on them like Spirit.
Perhaps DM fans find their joy in remixing, band members demo’s & sharing the results online ?
Not purchasing bad quality remixes on 12″vinyl, with poor artwork, which is never to be displayed or music listened to.
However my (scratched vinyl) etched 12″ does provide pleasure.
Too bad no CD edition for Both Sides (All The Sides). Would of liked to see those additional 10+ tracks on an expanded release but at least on the LP he grouped the live stuff together, the demos together and the other stuff together [at least on the Face Value 2CD release, he had live tracks, a demo and then more live tracks – minor].
New Jamie XX out this week
Three new releases I’m looking forward to this week:
The Waeve – City Lights
Follow up to the excellent eponymous debut from year last. Which I thought was Coxon’s best album release of 2023, and I loved the Ballad of Darren!
Thurston Moore – Flow Critical Lucidity
Clunky album title but the music is reliably great.
Kaeto – Intro
Exciting new artist with a great voice and production, and some fantastic singles released over the past 18 months. ‘Don’t Ask’ is the stand out track so far.
Really excited to see Coxon sticking with the Waeve
Cheap week, thank goodness!
Another new release this week is a new album by American band Bright Eyes called Five Dice All Threes.
They have an interesting catalogue built up over the last 20 years even if it is inconsistent in quality.
The Bob Dylan boxset is huge, for a fair price, especially if you compare it with the upcoming King of America reissue. It’s a kind of bargain in today’s context. Not for casual fans, though, but I’m ready…
