  1. Also released on Friday – The Truth A Step In The Right Direction.
3CD compilation with many tracks making their debut on CD.

The Truth were formed by singer/guitarist Dennis Greaves, after the demise of his previous band Nine Below Zero in 1982, with guitarist Mick Lister, ex-9BZ bassist Brian Bethell, drummer Gary Wallace & organist Chris Skornia. Signing with WEA’s Formation label, The Truth charted with their debut single, the vibrant & uplifting ‘Confusion (Hits Us Everytime’), which reached No. 22 in May 1983. The follow-up, ‘A Step In The Right Direction’, peaked at No. 32 that August. A third single, ‘No Stone Unturned’, was released in February 1984. The band then signed with I.R.S. Very few of the dozen or so Truth tracks (spread across various formats) have ever been reissued on CD. A Step In The Right Direction is the first-ever retrospective of The Truth’s early recordings, boasting not only their entire output for Formation but also two further discs of live material & a handful of previously unheard demos! Disc 2 combines two BBC concerts which were broadcast at the time; Disc 3 finds The Truth in full effect at the famous Marquee, a venue which Nine Below Zero had made their own. Many of these concerts boast songs which the band never issued on vinyl. Dennis Greaves & Mick Lister have been involved with this worthwhile release, with sleeve-notes by Mojo’s Lois Wilson. The package is housed in an attractive card wallet as a fitting tribute to one of the key Mod bands of the period .

  2. How is the Stax box packaged. Does it still come in it’s original 12×12 box. I see all three sets are up at Amazon for just under a ton for the lot. That used to be the price for each one!

  3. Suede was announced so long ago I had forgotten it was coming out… Any reviews/thoughts on the film or should I stick to the CD version?

    1. I’ve gone for the standard CD+DVD version of Night Thoughts. Only £2 more than the CD, so worth a punt. Not interested in paying £30 to get the book version.
