NewsRy Cooder: Soundtracks box set
Rhino will release a seven-CD Ry Cooder box set next month, focusing on the guitarist’s soundtrack work from 1980s and early ’90s.
The music will be presented in a clamshell box and the films in question are The Long Riders, Alamo Bay, Paris, Texas, Blue City, Crossroads, Johnny Handsome and Trespass.
The set contains a number of soundtracks for director Walter Hill (1980’s The Long Riders being one) and a handful produced in a productive two year period with Alamo Bay, Blue City, Crossroads and Paris, Texas all issued in 1985-6.

Awesome work from an artists that captures the soul of America in music! I only wish a detailed liner note bocket was included to indetify the many musicians that helped Cooder create these wonerful albums. 8/10 is my rating.
Price drop on amazon.co.uk, under £16 now. Bargain!!
I hope this is Volume One as there are several missing: Southern Comfort; Geronimo; The Border; The End of Violence; Primary Colors. A very good selection of Ry Cooder soundtrack tracks is on the 2CD collection “Music by Ry Cooder” 1995.
I saw this and thought “At last, the complete soundtrack to Southern Comfort is going to be made available”. No such luck.
Too bad there’s no Streets of Fire soundtrack.
I have Crossroads on DVD. Awesome music!

Not a big Ry Cooder fan but I do like Crossroads and Blue City.
