Standalone release with Dolby Atmos Mix
Following the box set release back in August, the blu-ray edition of The Alan Parsons Project’s 1978 album Pyramid is now available as a standalone release and features Alan Parson’s new Dolby Atmos Mix.
The group’s third studio album – a concept album centred on the pyramids of Giza – was originally released in May 1978. It was It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with a variety of different lead vocalists employed including John Miles, Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek, David Paton, Jack Harris and Dean Ford. Session musicians included guitarist Ian Bairnson and drummer Stuart Elliot, with arrangements by Andrew Powell.
The album sold in excess of two million copies, achieving platinum and gold status in numerous territories including the USA, Germany and Canada.
As well as the first ever Dolby Atmos Mix of an Alan Parsons Project album athe Pyramid blu-ray also features a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix (also by Alan Parsons) and a hi-res stereo remaster by Miles Showell.

The blu-ray is multi-region and comes with a booklet containing sleeve notes featuring quotes from Alan Parsons, the Woolfson family and the musicians, full lyrics and Alan Parsons’ thoughts on Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound.
It’s released on 13 December 2024 via Cooking Vinyl and is available to pre-order via the SDE shop using this link or the button below.

This was my favourite Alan Parsons Project album. Now, I think it’d bore me to no end. I was 16 when I first listened to it, and my taste was very different back then… I actually kinda miss those days.

Probably because this product isn’t available on Amazon and FNAC.
I wonder if we will ever see any rerelease of Freudiana (White & Black).
Would be great but I fear the copyright situation around the album/musical is too complicated to sort out. I ended up buying both versions used (but in very good condition). It’s a better ending to the Parsons/Woolfson collaboration than Gaudi, I feel.
Same day will be available as well the double LP at 45 RPM.
Not sure why they wait so long to release these Blu-rays
If someone wants the expensive box that’s fine, but most of us are onto them.
Same goes for George’s – Living in the Material World.
I’d love to just purchase the Blu-ray, but currently the box is $175. It may be one of those super Amazon deals closer to xmas.

They’ve already released the stand-alone BRs a couple of months or so after the super deluxe. So not surprised.
Would have liked the box set but the price stopped me. This is more reasonable but I wish they’d included some of the bonus material too, (In stereo I mean, not expecting Atmos mixes of demos).
Yeah, this is what has kept me from buying any of the Project reissues… the box sets are too big and the blu-ray standalones too “small”.

What is that weird Blu-Ray disc case in the packshot? Never seen one like that before. I wonder if it’ll actually look like that.
