The Cure / Novembre: Live in France 2022

Eco vinyl for charity

The Cure will release a new 12-inch single in October called Novembre: Live in France 2022.

The vinyl record features two live tracks recorded during the French leg of The Cure’s ‘Shows of a Lost World’ tour in 2022 and is notable for being issued via Naked Record Club, which offer limited edition releases made from sustainable vinyl.

They use an injection-moulding machine that is estimated to use 80-90 percent less electricity than traditional steam vinyl pressing machines, with the records being made from non-toxic P.E.T. (Polyethylene Terephthalate – recyclable plastic). They also use a “paperless” printed label and sleeves made from FSC certified recyclable packaging.

The Cure and Naked Record Club will be donating 100 percent net profits from sales of this record to the climate charity Earth Percent founded by Brian Eno.

5,000 records are being pressed. 1-100 are available signed by Robert Smith and will be sold on The Cure’s online store. The rest are via Naked Record Club’s website.

Pre-order starts at 2pm on Friday 30 August. The record is released on 1 October 2024.

  1. I was lucky enough to secure a copy (unsigned), despite the somewhat eyewatering shipping costs to Australia. Here’s hoping Robert’s social media comment “AND THEN…” is indicating there’ll be more new stuff on the way soon. It’s been long enough…

  2. I refreshed the Cure store at 13:45 and there it was, the signed copy had been listed, as overly expensive as it is, I didn’t hesitate and quickly bit the bullet and added it to my cart and checked out, I was pleased to grab a copy but also felt guilty spending that much money, but I just wanted something signed from Robert and this was the perfect opportunity, I checked the store page again after I checked out and it was sold out, so glad I checked the page early!

    1. Congratulations! I got one in my cart, but Apple Pay and Shop Pay both failed, and then it was removed from my cart as “no longer available” before I could try a regular check-out. Apple Pay just failed for no reason twice, and Shop Pay said it couldn’t mail to a U.S. address (never had an issue with it before). Ah well.

Glad to see one go to someone who will appreciate it!

  3. Since 12in vinyl seems to usually retail at the same price as lp’s I feel it is rather mean of The Cure to offer fans just two tracks. Why not just have 3 a-side and offer six live tracks?Afterall they obviously have audio available of the whole entire shows! To have to pay so much for so little content, not good in my opinion.

    1. The Cure have maintained a fanatical fanbase from people in their teens to original fans from the 70’s. This record was done for charity, hardly mean, and sold out in a blink of an eye, no one forced 5000 people to buy this. They could have sold twice that in no time, just wait and see this non signed version turning up for + $200 just before Christmas. But sure, teasing fans with a new album for nearly a decade is a bit much, maybe maybe Robert needs to re-think things and make-up with Lol Tolhurst and record the real follow-up to Disintegration that patient Cure fans have been waiting for for 35 years.

    1. Yeah, I love charity drives where it seems the consumer is the one being charitable!

Does that £228 difference all go to the charity? Oh wait, I suppose the “80-90 percent less electricity” pressing machinery, “non-toxic P.E.T.” vinyl, and “FSC certified recyclable packaging” are going to eat into the “100 percent net profit” being donated.

      Please excuse my cynicism.

  4. Good stuff! Now, talking about The Cure, Live, in France…

What about a nice little reissue campaign for “The Cure in Orange”?

I am sure I am not the only who would love to see the 1987 VHS/Laserdisc original release remastered and reissued as 2xCD+DVD/Blu-ray set and 3xLP (orange) vinyl set, or am I?

  5. I’m pretty certain I am speaking on behalf of innumerable other Cure fans here on this site (and beyond) when I say that this vinyl is all well and good but when for heaven’s sake will the long foretold new album actually see the light of day. and could this be viewed as a sign that perhaps finally that interminable wait will soon be at an end, given that both tracks are (potentially at least) taken from it?

    1. I still can’t believe they toured two years ago using the name of the still unreleased album for the tour. Still it could be worse they could be the Sisters Of Mercy…

    2. I read Robert Smith say on the NME website about 2 years ago (might even be longer than that) that there were 2 albums that had been finished. Why the delay I do not know. Not like the good old days of the 60s/70s when an album would be finished and in the shops 2 months later, sometimes quicker. Just go on to Wikipedia and check out classic albums from that era and see how close the recording dates and release dates were.

      1. At this rate, The Cure is still faster than Tears For Fears. Hopefully something new in the next 3-4 years, Maybe Robert Smith has cold feet and is working tirelessly to create the next “Friday I’m In Love.”

      2. I’d hazard a guess it’s because he has quality control issues and has perhaps become a perfectionist the older he gets. This is based on his fine tuning of all the reissues and remasters these last few years where he gets directly involved (not a bad thing on that front).
