The Jeff Buckley ‘You and I’ two-CD deluxe edition isn’t happening
The previously announced Jeff Buckley You and I release (due next month), which features ten unreleased studio recordings from Feb 1993, look liked it would be issued as a two-CD deluxe edition, as well as the standard 10-track single CD edition, although that is apparently, not the case now.
The second disc was to feature five tracks recorded live at the Bataclan, namely, Last Goodbye, So Real, Grace, Mojo Pin and Eternal Life, however despite listings appearing online for a two-disc set, Sony have confirmed to this blog that there will be no deluxe edition for this release.
Buckley fans will have to content themselves with ‘just’ disc one, which features covers of well known songs by artists such as Bob Dylan, Sly & the Family Stone, Led Zeppelin and The Smiths.
You And I is released on 11 March 2016.

Just seen the “new” video for I Know It’s Over. What a wonderful interpretation of a wonderful song.
Was lucky enough to see Jeff play his 3 gigs in Dublin all those years ago.
First gig was solo and it still ranks as one of my favourite gigs.
Second was in the same small venue with his band and that is also one of my top 10!
Third was in a big venue with band and he was a bit all over the place! Still good though.
As Richie says above, his Dad was great as well. Song To The Siren just one of many classics.
JB was a talented singer/songwriter but fans need to listen to his dad the great Tim Buckley if they have not already done so. There are many fantastic live recordings as well as his studio albums – go discover.
Given the amount of posthumous releases compared to the music released during his lifetime, it’s like Jimi Hendix all over again. I bet there’ll be a deluxe edition of this somewhere down the line or the songs will appear on a (inevitable) career-encompassing box set.
What a shame! If Sony knew that people wanted a ‘deluxe’ edition (and I use the term loosely, as 5 extra songs a deluxe edition does not make) then why on earth wouldn’t you produce it? Perhaps they want to release a comprehensive Bataclan album, like the Legacy Edition of Live At Sin-E.
Ben, 5 extra songs a deluxe edition do make when they are around 10 minutes each…
And let’s see the glass half-full here: Since there’s already a 4 tracks, (yet 32mns long) “Live from the Bataclan” EP featuring none of the tracks listed by Amazon for the “You and I” Deluxe, a complete edition of the show’s recordings is maybe in the cards…
That’s what I thought too… And given the fact that The Bataclan EP is my favorite live gig from buckley, I’m really waiting on this!
