Parlophone Label Group will reissue The Waterboys 1985 album This is the Sea on vinyl LP in May.

The album was the last to feature Karl Wallinger, who left to form World Party, and is home to the band’s biggest hit The Whole of the Moon, which peaked at a modest number 26 at the time but reached number three when reissued in 1991.

This vinyl appears to use the 2004 remastering and is released on 18 May 2015.

Stunning record. One of the defining moments of 80s Rock. Anyone who caught them live in ’85 saw one of the gigs of the decade.

Personally I think it’s their best album. I guess Mike Scott agrees as it’s the only eighties album that wasn’t revised when reissued with extended songs or other songs from the sessions added – they wisely kept all the extras for disc two.

Possibly the best opening minute of an album of all time. Play it loud!

The 2nd best album of the 80`s after `Fisherman`s Blues`!
