FIRST PICTURES / The Sugarcubes: Life's Too Good coloured vinyl
The Sugarcubes‘ debut album has just been reissued as a limited edition fluorescent green vinyl.
The Icelandic band had what used to be called an ‘indie hit’ in October 1987 with Birthday (thanks to much attention from the UK press and John Peel) and the album followed in Spring 1988.
One Little Indian released the album in the UK (Björk remains with them to this day) and the label continue their recent spate of coloured vinyl releases. This is an improvement on some of the solo albums that were reissued in March, although like those, this not 180g vinyl but 140g. That’s not really a big issue and our pressing was flat and clean.
The best thing is that the repro on the artwork is excellent. This looks great and very vibrant, with the top-loading green sleeve housing the orange inner-sleeve and the yellowy-green vinyl record. This also comes with a download card for MP3s.
This limited edition pressing of Life’s Too Good is out now.
Looks fantastic! The question is, since the ‘Cubes were such a short-lived thing, why not just the complete LP set? Still, I’d consider getting this!
I’m sure they’ll get around to doing the others at some point.
I remember the original LP came in FIVE different coloured sleeves. I know somebody who bought all of them.
Me – I was happy buying all five 12″s of Heaven 17’s 1985 masterpiece . . . And That’s No Lie.
picked this up in one of those new fangled record shops they have these days yesterday (Diverse Records in Newport) and it looks and plays lovely
Always been a fan of the artwork of Paul White. Love this cover.
Anyone know if its a remaster? I have the original so not sure whether to double up.
Pressing quality the same as the dreadful Bjork reissues or actually decent?
Seems better all round, although not outstanding.
Looks fantastic, remember them popping up on the Chart Show for the first time, very sharp group of people
Title needs amending – “Life’s Too Good”, not Lifes Too Short.
Thanks. Sorry about that… a bit silly on my part to let that go out :/
Life’s Too Good, surely?
Technical gremlin. Apostrophes often go AWOL but have sorted!
