Photo Gallery: The Rolling Stones / Some Girls / Super Deluxe Edition

[singlepic id=729 w=320 h=240 float=left]The Rolling Stones Some Girls has been reissued and comes in many formats including vinyl (with a limited coloured release), 2CD Deluxe Edition and the all-singing all-dancing Super Deluxe Edition. The later two feature a bonus disc of 12 previously unreleased tracks.

Here we have detailed photo galleries of all formats, with special attention paid to the Super Deluxe Edition. This lavish presentation features an 100-page hard-backed book set within a sturdy presentation box. The box has a lift-off lid rather than being a slip-case which tends to be the norm (this style was used in The Who’s Quadrophenia Director’s Cut Edition).

Attention to detail is the name of the game with this Some Girls box. The inside is lined with the ‘tongue and lips’ logo and the first page of the book is actually a pocket housing the exclusive Beast of Burden 7inch single. The book itself is at treasure-trove of period photos, essays and original artwork. It’s also very large – at around 14″ x 11″ which gives the content lots of room to breathe.

In addition to this book the box contains a set of postcards, a very nice Helmut Newton print and a poster.

The Super Deluxe Edition only disappoints with the actual audio/video content. 7″ single apart, the only extra beyond the standard 2CD release is a DVD which comes across more like a promotional tool for the companion Live in Texas DVD (a separate release). You get three original promo videos and a taster of Live in Texas by way of two performances from the concert. That’s it. At 27 minutes it all feels very slight.

If you are a big fan, chances are you are planning on buying the Live in Texas DVD/Blu-ray anyway, in which case the Super Deluxe Edition DVD is almost completely superfluous.

However, the book remains a superbly presented and very desirable item. For fans that can afford the upgrade to Super Deluxe it’s sure to impress.

The Rolling Stones Some Girls Super Deluxe Edition is out now and can be purchased here (UK) and here for the US.
