Exclusive: The Wedding Present ‘I Am Not Going To Fall In Love With You’

Last year we told you about The Wedding Present’s 24 Songs initiative. The band are issuing a physical seven-inch single every month in 2022 with a new song on both sides of each record.

The January single featured the songs ‘We Should Be Together’ (Featuring Louise Wener) and ‘Don’t Give Up Without A Fight’ and it’s now the eve of release of single #2. February’s seven-inch has the romantically titled ‘I Am Not Going To Fall In Love With You’ on the A-side and ‘A Song From Under The Floorboards’ on the flipside.

SDE can exclusively bring you the video for ‘I Am Not Going To Fall In Love With You’ which you can watch below. You can subscribe to 24 Songs or just buy the singles individually by visiting the band’s 24 Songs website. The new single is officially released on 18 February 2022.

  1. Ash did a similar thing about 10 years ago, releasing a new 7″ single for each letter of the alphabet. I think each single cost £3. I gave up after “J” and I’m pretty sure they then compiled them all onto a much more affordable album at the end. I wish WP luck with this and they may need it at £175 up front.

  2. A very beautiful song. Been playing it over and over.
I haven’t the means to play it physically so I’ll have to patiently wait until, and if, it gets a CD release.
The first two songs have set a high standard.

  3. Great song, how does he write the same thing a hundred times and they all sound different.

David Gedge has done a Tom Jones (or the father of the Siddiquis family on Googlebox) that or hes had a terrible reaction after seeing Adele win best album & song.

    1. Yes and the fact that it is titled 7″ version. Does that indicate a longer album version?
It would suit a nice long “Take Me” type outro.

  4. I love the Weddoes but I just couldn’t find the shekles for this series. :(

Hopefully, the songs will appear on other formats at some point down the line.

    1. Apparently they found a pressing place that guaranteed they could meet the monthly schedule but this meant it was more expensive, hence the price of the singles being a bit higher than they would have wanted to charge.
