Amazing price at on Amazon Canada for the rather swish 7in-83-88 R.E.M. seven-inch vinyl box.

This set collects the I.R.S. single releases over 11 vinyl records and is close to £80 on Amazon UK. However, at the time of writing it’s just £26 (or $53 CA) on the Canadian site. This is almost exactly one third of the UK price, cheap enough perhaps for those in the UK or Europe to shrug off the risk of import VAT and shipping…

  1. Wish some of these things would appear on CD. I know that vinyl is sexy right now and filesharing has devastated the market for CDs; but I simply don’t have room in the house for a lot of vinyl.

    1. Chris – Look for R.E.M.’s “Singles Collected,” which came out in 1994 in various countries and contains all of the above in the same order on a single CD, except “Driver 8” (which is the album version) and the second half of the “Wendell Gee” double 7″ (and both those songs are easily available on “Dead Letter Office”). Voila…space saved!

  2. To Spain Amazon Canada always sends by DHL even if you choose standard shipping, so you get it in 2 days but if the value(excluding shipment)is above 22€ you have to pay VAT and other costs.

  6. Whilst yes potentially this is a great deal (only if not caught by customs), and for whatever reason I can never seem to escape Canadian to UK Customs, so I’m banking on the end price been way above the quoted £26 by at least £13 more which which total just under £40.

    However, a much smarter buy (if you’re in the UK or Europe) would be to grab from one from one of the market place sellers on either Germany or France (Brand new). The German one with shipping to UK comes in at around £27 with shipping (and guaranteed no fees), the french one only a couple of quid more.
