The Kinks / Muswell Hillbillies 2CD deluxe edition reissue

cover

Muswell Hillbillies, The Kinks‘ 1971 album, will be reissued as a two-CD deluxe edition on 29 July 2013.

The album was the band’s first for RCA records and although critically well received, it was not a commercial success. This new edition pairs the original album with a bonus disc of alternate versions, demos and live tracks. These include Kentucky Moon and Mountain Woman which featured on the previous reissue.

  1. Universal Japan has a paper sleeve edition complete with the booklet, replica gatefold sleeve and additional disc sleeve (it looks like a promo sleeve). Of course its Super High Material, and finally UMJ have dropped their tight-fisted approach to presenting the discs; most in this series were generic with no label reproduction art–just titles on a clear silver backing. This issue has the international disc artwork you’ll find on the deluxe elsewhere.

  2. “Lola” is the Lp I’ve been waiting for in this deluxe reissue series…what a great and totally overlooked Kinks LP! It only had one of their biggest and best all-time singles on it…

    1. My question exactly. Probably like the Macca stuff, the order is all over the place. It should see the light of day soon enough. Waiting for the Japanese paper sleeve on this one!
