Marvin Gaye / Diana Ross: Complete Motown Collection box sets

image

Universal will release Complete Motown Collection box sets later this year for Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross.

Details are scant, but pre-order links are already available with the Marvin Gaye set offering 25 discs, the Diana Ross collection clocking in at 23 discs. These are likely to have card sleeves with some gatefolds, and will come in some kind of clamshell box.

A Jackson 5 box was issued in late November last year but that ‘only’ contained 15 CDs.

Both the Marvin Gaye and the Diana Ross Complete Motown Collection boxes are currently scheduled for a 7 October 2014 release.

  1. Albums: Diana Ross // Everything Is Everything // Diana! // Surrender // Lady Sings The Blues // Touch Me In The Morning // Diana & Marvin // Live At Caesars Place // Mahogany // Diana Ross // An Evening With // Baby It’s Me // Ross // The Boss // Diana // To Love Again // Workin’ Overtime // The Force Behind The Power // Stolen Moments // Take Me Higher // Every Day Is A New Day // Blue

  2. If they materialise at all. They’ve been shifted along the schedules for the best part of a year already and seem to get further and further away. If they’re not expanded it’s hard to grasp what the issue is if they are simply re-pressing existing product like the Jackson 5.

  3. As well as Diana’s 70th birthday this week, it’s also the 30th anniversary of Marvin’s death at the hands of his bonkers father this weekend (April 1) – shame Universal couldn’t have timed the release better.

  4. Pre-ordered the Diana Ross box on Amazon UK (although I already have all her Motown albums on CD and LP). For me, it’s a bit of a “birthday” celebration – Miss Ross turns 70 today!

I fully expect the discs to be the standard version (no bonus tracks etc). Time will tell…

  5. Marvin Gaye box might be of interest depending on (SQ), Content and Price. Since all 3 Amazon’s are listing this as a “Import” release, maybe this is the Japanese edition that is listed? I’m sure Paul will have more details closer to release date.
