  1. A pointless exercise in terms of sound quality as the HDCD remasters were wonderful. Unless of course they’re remastering for loudness, distortion and no dynamics ( in the same style as the recent Nirvana Nevermind remaster) to suit the MP3/earbud generation.

    1. Hi-res audio on the DVDs will hopefully not be loud and the fact that they are even bothering to do this suggests that we won’t get a brickwalled remaster with squashed dynamics…

  2. I do not think it is possible this reissue on CD will sound better than the HDCD reissue of 1999.
But let´s wait and see what the first comments will say.

Will the DVD-As be multichannel? That was not mentioned, I do not think so.

      1. Regarding multi-channel audio, at least one album – Avalon – was released in multi-channel SACD back in the day (cat. # ROXYSACD9). It’s a wonderful disc and includes a bonus track (“Always Unknowing”) in multi-channel mode only.

Not sure the effort to multi-channel 7 more albums though.

  3. Hard not to take this one seriously, and I will wait patiently for comments on sound quality on the CDs
Not terribly thrilled with the DVD versions so it will come down to the issue of price
    terrific alert….thank you Paul

  4. there’s a VHS i have stuck away somewhere, i think it’s called Rewind. an absolutely amazing presentation of them. as they were as much a visual band as the music, it would be a great shame if the DVDs are “just” DVD Audio of the albums; footage of them would be better and greatly appreciated.

    1. Hi Lee – It would seem a bit of a missed opportunity to create DVDs and ignore the ability to include lots of archive video. But certainly on the information so far there is no indication that any video will be included.
