  1. With the box set containing amazing talent and most of the best soul music ever, it’s all you’d ever need. The content really is great, plus the box is quite funky. So yeah, I’d love to win it :-)

  2. I would love to own this collection; as a huge fan of soul music from the classic Atlantic label, and others, this would be a welcome addition to my collection.

  3. Some of the greatest music ever created. It never fails to soothe my soul and has been the soundtrack to large chunks of my life. I would love to win this. If I don’t it will be on my Christmas list for sure!

  4. I’d like to win, not for me, but for my pal. I bought it yesterday (£35 from FOPP Glasgow) and he’ll pester me for copies of the CD so i’d like to win it for him.
PS it was worth the money just for the Sam Dees album, a lost CLASSIC , up there with Curtis, Stevie and Marvins best 70’s work !

  5. This beautiful box would make a great addition to any collection. I have been playing portions of my soul collection lately with my kids. It is amazing how they immediately are captivated by the performances. Hours or days later they ask to listen again. This box would give me and my kids a chance to share some know music and to discover some new music together.

  6. I’ve been digging through 60s soul the past couple months and have been amazed to find so many fantastic albums. It’s a shame they’re so hard to find on CD, and this set seems to do them the justice they deserve.

  7. I’d love to win this set…as a vinyl enthusiast, I’d love to add all these magnificent records to my collection. There’s no such thing as “too many good soul records” and I’d make sure these got played often (and loudly) over at my place…

  8. i think this would be a mArvelous 40th birThday present to buy myseLf in A few weeks…eveN beTter if I won it! ClasSic cOllection yoU simpLy have to own!

  9. Because there’s a gap on my boxset shelf that would this would fit it perfectly. I do like a symmetrical record collection.

And because it’s got unreleased stuff that I HAVE TO HEAR.

  10. Being mostly on a retro/jazz kick recently I assume that this lovely box set is a no-brainer in terms of widening one’s musical horizons. I’ve never owned these particular albums, so the discovery would be really fascinating.

  11. Box sets are a fusion of two essential parts of an excellent music experience – the physical, tangible aspect of something that looks great, and the music, The latter is the overriding aspect, but the former adds something magical to it. And that’s why I like visiting this site – mp3s and digital collections have their place on my iPod, but for me any serious musical listening has to be done via physical format as part of the ritual. And it’s nice to know it’s appreciated by other people too! And it goes without saying that Atlantic music is some of the greatest ever created.

  12. Absolute heaven for a soul fan such as myself,There is not a bad album among these 20 ,count me in guys – someone is going to have an early Xmas.Good luck everyone.@PhillipsBarrie.

  13. I really think I would enjoy this beautiful boxset. I’m more than familiar with some artists but not all. I was born in the late 70s so this type of music is something I have had to pursue and this boxset I think would really help me immerse myself in this era and sound.

  14. Some of the earlier Atlantic stereo albums sounded horrible next to the mono versions. I remember I had an original mono copy of the classic compilation This Is Soul which was scratched to death but still sounded punchy and wonderful.

I loved it so much bought a stereo copy in the 70s to replace it but it sounded horrible, all wrong with lots of superflous echo and the dynamics shot to hell, so I kept hold of my mono original.

Hopefully these remasters don’t exhibit the same traits. I’d love the opportunity to find out!

  15. Woooow, ‘d love to win this fabulous box! And so later (the latest the best) to be burried in it. Fingers crossed. Thks for the contest

  16. How on earth could anyone pass on such a historically significant item? It’s a treasure chest of fab soul music, and if I’d win one I’d be thrilled to bits!

  17. Sad to say I have no soul in my collection whatsoever. This would be a welcome addition to my collection, not to mention a fine start to an education in soul music!

  18. Atlantic Records had the best art department in the ’50s and ’60s. Even better than Blue Note. Great covers to go with great music.

If I won this, I would listen to it all in one sitting.

  19. Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and Donny Hathaway are the soundtrack of my life. I’d love to have all the classics on CD!!! Thank you all and keep it up! o/

  20. These are some of my very favorite artists. I’d buy it myself but i have no funds from buying many of the other deluxe editions that have been featured on this site.

  21. This is genre-defining and genre-defying music from a transitional period in American music — R&B/soul or otherwise. I’ve heard some of this amazing music and would relish the opportunity to hear a lot more. Thank you.

  22. This box will make me a double winner. I have to admit – I have no clue of what music is in there. Never had any of these records and only heard a song here and there. As a music fan, this box is a mind opener, a horizon discoverer and a knowledge fountain for another chapter of music history for me. I would love to be accepted to the “Atlantic University of Music”.

  23. Ownership of this elegantly scuffed Soul breeze block, will hopefully send a message to the under-performing albums in my record collection, that it is time for them to pull their socks up.

  24. Aretha, Donny, Otis, Pickett… and a whole slew of other great artists? Do I need any more of a reason to want to win this set? Great music from a legendary label, not to mention I’m a huge soul music nut. That’s why I’d like to win the set.

  25. Fabulous prize. I grew up listening to so much music on the Atlantic label. This would be a great addition to anyone’s collection. Best of luck everyone.

  26. Hi Paul

I want to win because it’s a great prize of course! :)

But I also just wanted to say a big thank you for your site – truly exciting – I love it, I visit it everyday, the content is always interesting and I really appreciate your love for older music.

Thanks your a great site! :)

    Cheers
    H

  27. this fits totally in to my music pattern and listening habits. With my disposable $$ heading to (maybe) Gabriel and The Gift, I would really appreciate some help

Ok, I would like to win – thanks for offering and good luck to everyone
    Go Tigers

  28. I would love to win this box because I have always loved Atlantic soul, ever since buying the vinyl of Donny Hathaway Live in 1975 (it’s one of the few records I still own.)

So many amazing legends in this box, and so much more I would like to explore of this timeless era in music.

  29. I’m a huge music fan and love soul but I need to expand my knowledge and appreciation of the genre and this collection looks like the perfect place to start!

  30. I’d love to win this because I want to get to know this music better! I know a lot of these artists in passing, but I’ve never really had the opportunity to listen to their music in detail, just on the radio or compilations. Winning this box will give me a chance to know them better and have a better appreciation of at least 20 of Atlantic’s soul legends.

  31. Looks like a great set! I would love to have this, as I am not familiar with all the artists here, so that would be a great introduction, and add to my music education!

  32. I’d like 2 win this fantastic set because, as a long time RealMusicLover, I’m sure 2 love each of its albums, especially “the 1st time on CD ” Sam Dees which sounds awesome from what I managed 2 hear from it…
Also because I’m fond of Deluxe Editions: your site & CD sets
    Thanks 4 all

  33. For someone who has loved this music and has been in awe of this music I somehow don’t own any of these albums. I have some songs from different comps over the years, but not the real albums. I would be honored to own a copy of this collection.

  34. I have been collecting vinyl records since I was about the age of 10 (my first single being “Sorrow” by David Bowie, which I purchased from a ‘bargain bin’) and CDs since 1987 (Rick Astleys “Never Gonna Give You Up” album being my first), so this collection would be so appreciated, well looked after and listened too so much!

  35. I’d like to win because it’s an area of music that seems interesting but apart from a select few examples, I have never really had the chance to explore (wouldn’t know where to start, to tell the truth). (I have already subscribed to your mailing list already)

  36. This would be a great collection to have, mostly because it’s a fascinating era of the music industry, that I would like to explore more than I have so far.

  37. Just subscribed to this very interesting website, which I have been following for a while. And a very good chance to get this impressive set of legendary albums! An style that has always been in the periphery of my preferences, it is time to know what all that fuss is about!

  38. Winning this would definetely make my day, there are so many records in that box that I NEED!!! Anyway, this is THE website for us crazy collectors, thank you!

  39. Hi,

Why I’d like to win this boxset ? Just because it seems fantastic ! I already own some of that boxes (ex : Perfect jazz 1 & 2, Miles Davis), and I love to listen to all of these, randomly or chronologically. It’s a good way to discover new artists, to understand the evolution process of some music etc.

And above all, because only great artists are in this box : Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin… Will there be another one with Motown for example ?

  40. well what can i say, i missed the original era of Atlantic soul releases but in the 80’s i started to discover the different artists through re-releases etc and have since become more familiar with most of them. However if i was to win this collection it would enable me to grow my taste even further…..20 CDs wow that would be awesome :)

    1. Fantastic highlight collection of Soul Music, I’m a brazilian soul music fan and I would love to win this collection of the Kings of Soul Music. Thanks by the chance.
