Getting a bad feeling about the silence from Sound of Vinyl since I ordered the Killers vinyl box set at £51 a week ago… They disappeared fast at that price.
If you are a Prime music customer you should be able to download the tracks now. I can’t imagine they would try to charge you if they do cancel the order.
I missed out on it but found a link on the Hmv site for the same price (£26.99) sadly the link wasn’t allowing you to add the item to the cart so I got in touch with them and it was a fault on the site, they fixed it today.. so anyone that wants one…. Be quick!!

Glad I’m not the only one feeling a bit let down by the lack of more killer specials. I’m kicking myself for missing the great price on Red Rose Speedway on Amazon.fr. by apparently less than a half-hour! And I also wanted Wildlife as well. When I saw the 3 for €25 on double sets on Amazon.de, I thought, “Great! I can pick up the Zeppelin 2-CD reissues I’m missing!” And of course, despite over 2500 titles included in the sale … the Zeps aren’t among them.
Well, crossing my fingers, Cyber Monday’s a day away, there’s still a bit over three weeks until Christmas, and then of course some post-holiday deals, but yeah, not like last year when for example Amazon.de had that KILLER buy-two-box-sets of any size, get-one-of-equal-or-lesser-value free deal. That took care of my individual early ear Pink Floyds!
Aside from all that, thanks Paul for all the work you put into this and for its existence to begin with. It’s a daily-stop invaluable site; it would be really difficult to keep up with all these specials, and the pre-release details of track listings and so on are so helpful.
They currently have the OMD Souvenir Box Set for only GBP 51.67 for Amazon UK’s Cyber Monday sale after you add the item to your basket and select delivery options. :-)

I must admit I wasn`t expecting much for myself in the box set world, which is what I`m mostly into these days. I bought all of mine upon release this year and at good prices, for example I got the Abbey Road SE for £55 at my favourite indy store. Admittedly I get good deals from the owner because when I have clear outs of unwanted LPs I let him have them for a good price.
I wonder what Cyberdelic Monday has in Store, geddit!

It IS rather odd that — even today, Black Friday — both Amazon US and UK seem to be sadly lacking in any major box set deals, with France and Germany appearing mainly to be the ones that are offering them. Maybe Cyber Monday? And I’m sure between now and Christmas there will be other specials. I’m still on the fence about Abbey Road on the German site, and that ends in about 30 minutes from the time I’m posting this, but I am hopeful it’ll eventually show up somewhere a bit cheaper, as the White Album has. I’m not in any rush and I don’t see that going out of print anytime soon.
I’d love to see that Doors – Soft Parade box on sale though; I’ve held off because I hate those vinyl+CD combo sets and am hoping — as happened last January with the quietly released 2-CD Waiting for the Sun — there will eventually be a 3-CD-only set of Soft Parade. But, if it was really on sale cheap, I might spring for the combo set. The inconsistency of how they’ve handled the first three reissues in this regard is frustrating.

I agree. Amazon.com didn’t have much at all. I only bought the Stone Temple Pilots “Purple” SDE but that wasn’t even marked as a Black Friday sale. They just lowered the price.
I ended up canceling my Abbey Road order from Amazon.de. I agree that you can probably scoop that up cheaper at a later point somewhere else and those Beatles boxes will never go out of print.
I bought the 4 disc Live “Throwing Copper” SDE from Udiscover.com that was “on sale” for $66 which is still crazy expensive for a 2cd +2lp. I didn’t even know that SDE existed. It’s one of the best 90’s albums but you can’t get the SDE anywhere. It may be very limited.

Walked into fopp today saw the soundgarden artists den super deluxe set, it was £134.99 on amazon for ages but dropped to £99.99 today, but fopp had it for £60 and with the 20% off vinyl offer I got it for £48!!, I may have danced a jig at the checkout

Insane price. Was debating at £50-odd from Germany but this made it easy. Looks like still available but 1-2 weeks delivery presumably shipped in from Europe.

Deacon Blue – Believers excellent boxset with the live gig from 1988 is currently £10.99 on amazon uk. I ordered it on Wednesday and it turned up today so it’s legit. I was a bit concerned they might’ve mislabelled the normal CD.

Their 2nd album Hydra was never in 5.1; their Grammy-winning mega-seller Toto IV (with the hits “Rosanna,” “Africa” and “I Won’t Hold You Back”) was released back in 2002 as an SACD disc (and also as a Mobile Fidelity gold disc and Sony Super Bit Mastering version). The 5.1 mix of IV — presumably the same as the SACD disc — was on the Blu-ray disc included in the $500 All In box, but as Paul mentions, the CD box is just the regular CDs.

I don’t know how long ago the McCartney Red Rose Speedway Amazon.fr offer started, but the sale price appears to already be over even though it’s early Black Friday, since it’s currently €181,99, which is even higher than the previous regular price of €164.
It was up for about a day, and was still discounted about an hour ago, because I checked.
