  1. Ordering from Amazon German and shipping to Australia the Lou Reed and Bowie sets come to EUR 190,74 with EUR 21,79 shipping, for a total of EUR 212,53 (AU$314.09)

    The same two items ordered from Amazon UK are GBP 166.66 plus GBP 5.07, for a total of GBP 171.73 (AU$297.77)

    So Amazon UK is still a better deal for me, I think because they deduct VAT. I’m imagining (but I don’t know for sure) this will be the same for many of us.

    1. The devil is in the postage costs – for shipping to Australia, UK is the best…in terms of price, at least. In terms of the actual packing, UK can sometimes be frustrating, astounding, or just plain mystifying.

  2. @Klaus – thanks, I thought that was the case. Amazon are missing a trick here – they need a separate delivery address option of ‘the place where your wife won’t find out’.

    @John – not for much longer :)

      1. Sadly i can’t confirm that. I learnt after several quarries with my former girlfriend that the “Deliver to another adress” button worked better than to “deliver it under her nose”.

  3. Before you say ” Thank you”-amazon.de…
    They are “only” matching the 20% discount of “Saturn” in Germany.
    The normal Black friday offers of amazon.de are as ridiculous as the offers from amazon.uk…

  4. My local Sainsbury’s has NO vinyl, not a single one and Swindon is quite a decent sized town. As Paul says a Lottery and we didn’t get a single number here.

  5. The REM album is £16 to your door from Amazon UK under their “Prime” deal – only £2 more than the German offer after German postage is included.

  6. Anyone know if you can have items from Europe sent to an Amazon pick up location or locker in the UK? The days of having box sets sent to my home address are long gone….

    1. No; it not possible to have items sent to pick up location or locker in the UK when ordering from Amazon Germany. Found this out yesterday when I ordered the Beatles – mono box set.

    2. Hi Geoff, as Ken07 already pointed out you can’t order to a pick up location or locker outside Germany or Austria.
      What should be possible is to order to another address in the UK, e.g. working place, friends or family (who don’t like your wife ;-)) )
      The other way round it works perfectly well as i am ordering from amazon.co.uk to Germany for years now to other delivery adresses than my own. Hope this helps.
