Disaster! in through the out door heavy box set arrived damaged, they will only pay £8 postage for me to return it, it will cost more than that to send it to somewhere in the uk, any suggestions people? What really pisses me off is the phycial graffiti box came in a custom made mailer with foam spacers around the edge, in through the out door was look in an over sized box with no protection GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

OK appart from the fact that I left it right til the last minute and did not really consider the best way to group my orders (should have paid more attention to the values) do anyone know how amazon.de will react if i return one of the items for a refund? If i bought 3 x £30 items or equivalent and returned one would there be any refund? if i bought a batch of 3 items that were £50 £30 and £10 and returned the £50 record how much would they refund?

Well, glad that’s over. Fortunately The Boss was out when the first two boxes arrived, so the albums / SDE’s have been absorbed into the collection and the boxes are safely in the boot of my car for recycling. Just one more parcel to sneak in and I am safe.

Only one disaster…and it brings up a good point about returning to a foreign country if things do not go right.

The Hippopotamus “2LP Picture disc” arrived as an unsealed Black vinyl copy in a terrible state with dirty / dusty vinyl and what looks like a glue rip to the front cover. Other than sending Rolf Harris’s Greatest Hits they couldn’t have got it more wrong.

Has anyone any experience of returns to a foreign Amazon? Admittedly this is the first and only error I have had from AmIt, AmFr, AmEs or AmDe in dozens of orders.

Do you have to post it back to Germany as in all likelihood it arrived from Dunfermline, Scotland anyway?

Christian, that’s interesting – the first batch of Abbey Road half-speed masters included Abba’s Arrival at 2x45rpm, which was not reissued as a single 33rpm. The Eno 2x45rpm do sound great, though!

2. Jean-Michel Jarre – Oxygene Trilogy

But I’m a big Metallica fan too…so brilliant to pick up the new 3CD version of “Hardwired”…

Thanks Paul. Tried hard to resist but the combo of the deluxe Radiohead Moon Shaped Pool, Sgt Pepper’s super deluxe with Airborne vinyl collection all staring at me from the final Amazon order screen was too powerful.

I did check with a mate who assured me I was simply delaying the inevitable by hovering over the final purchase button. Whether he can resist the huge Metallica boxset frenzy made possible from this offer which I thoughtfully pointed out to him, I shall find out tomorrow.

I hope it’s not too late to mention this but films and movies are included also.

As a test I tried to order the 2 Bowie boxes plus the Tom Petty.

Then 3 g or 2 on Germany netted the Bright Eyes vinyl box and Kinks mono box and took Mccartney Flowers super deluxe for free all less tax then just went 12 cd boxes on 3 for 2 less tax..all the Scorpions deluxes Keith Jarrett anfels box Lloyd cole new york box Kraftwerk 3d cd box Human League 3cdplusdvd box and David Gilmour pompeio super deluxe. Despite advertising it as being included in the 3 for 2 purchase, Amazon de have confirmed they will not honour a deal that includes Kraftwerk 3D vinyl.

Whats the legal position on this?

Just a word of advice for USA buyers. Check to see what the third party sellers on Amazon.com are selling the items for. I bought 3 boxes (U2, Joshua Box, The Verve Urban Box and Underworld Beaucoup box). The total after discount, shipping, taking out VAT and conversion to USD was $188. If I go to the third party sellers on Amazon.com I will pay $196 for the same 3 box sets. Since all 3 of the boxsets are quite new, they will lower in price going forward and I would probably be able to get them for less than $188 in total.

I also bought other smaller boxsets and they came out about $30 cheaper than if I order them from third party sellers on Amazon.com (Daf Box Set, Prince Purple SDE and Pet Shop Boys Nightlife further Listening). So it is possible to save but you have to pay attention and the research to see where you come out ahead.

I also bought the 3 Deluxe China Crisis albums and paid $33. If I were to buy them from third party sellers on Amazon.com right now it’s expensive because some of them are still listed as imports but in a few weeks the 2cd versions will be about $10 and The 3cd is already $14 now so that would total $46 including shipping. So also in this case I’m getting out ahead.

It seems the more expensive (and bigger) the box sets, the less advantageous this deal is if you are in the USA. Just a heads up!

I was just about to buy the Eno double vinyls when I saw they’ll be issued again on October 27 for 19.99 € each, probably as single 33rpm albums then!? Can’t find any further info yet ..

Picked up three Bear Family boxes. The Bristol Sessions, Johnson City Sessions, Knoxville Sessions. I was going to buy the Bristol box anyway, but the promotion effectively reduced the other two to £47 each. And at that price, it would have been an offence NOT to buy. I see lots of people might have trouble with their spouse over this offer. Take a tip from me and just absorb the records into your collections quietly. My other half will just think Im playing the same old rubbish. She won’t know it’s new rubbish!

Just bought the Human League Anthology super deluxe edition as part of the 3 for 2 offer. It’s 40 euros on its own before taking into account the discount. Think that’s the lowest it’s ever been so far…

My choice has been the 2nd and 3rd Bowie sets plus the Lou Reed RCA & Arista box. 41 cds 247€ delivered. Fela Kuti’s complete 30cd+dvd was also a contender, but finally went for Lou.

Picked up Beaucoup Fish from Underworld, U2 Joshua Box and Verve Urban Box in the first order. Then in the next order the three China Crisis reissues and then in the third order the new DAF Box, Prince Purple SDE and the remaining Pet Shop Boys Further Listening I hadnt bought yet. Good promo.
I also wanted to get the Flowers In The Dirt box from Paul McCartney together with the 2 Bowie boxes but I simply cannot pull the lever on that Macca box. It’s so ridiculously expensive that even with this promo I feel massively ripped off. I also don’t really need the Bowie boxes as I have all the individual Ryko discs with all bonus tracks. No need to spend all that money on stuff I already have, only the sound is slightly better. So decided against that. The only reason I want that Macca box is because I bought Paul’s interview booklet. Apparently the completist in me is starting to move into OCD territory. I would never listen to that box as Im not a Macca fan at all.
The dollar vs Euro exchange rate is also quite bad at the moment. Some of these boxes are so much more expensive on Amazon Germany that even with the promo I don’t save all that much after shipping and conversion to Dollars. Yes VAT is taken out but the numbers are still so so. Im still coming out ahead but not as much as I had expected.

185 dollars delivered to the USA for Hysteria Super Deluxe, the Complete Dave Brubeck, and the Kris Kristofferson boxes. It doesn’t get more across the board than that!! On Amazon US this would have cost me over 300 dollars easy!

Can anyone who’s had stuff ship or start to be charged say how Amazon.de deals with out of stock items? Do they average the total price out over the three items as they ship or do they charge at full price for two meaning it would only be when the order is fully complete do you actually achieve the discount by getting that third one free?
