  1. Crying Shame the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame did Kraftwerk wrong. Perhaps it was not being able to get Kraftwerk across the ocean for the induction ceremonies, or whatever goof they made, Clearly Kraftwerk was not happy. Following their performance in the city of the RRHOF, Kraftwerk said the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame were NOT their friends.. very sad indeed.. perhaps they did not even allow them to tour the facilities.. I was too respectful to ask the actual reasoning behind such a profound & sad statement.
It would not be the first time, by a long shot, & won’t be the last the Rock Hall will lose face by their actions.

  2. Apparently the Kraftwerk boxes have the wrong language booklets in them i.e. the English version has the bookelt in German and vice versa. My copy arrived from Amazon UK the other day and I can confirm it did come with the German booklet.

Still, at least they fixed the error on CD 2 in the German version…

  3. Just couldn’t resist, great price £35:75. Have only got the 1CD version, looking forward to hearing the full versions. Looks like a nicely done package.

  4. Mr Sinclair: A word please. Here I am trying to save money & then I see this Kraftwerk boxset for £31 from you!! It’s rude not to at that price.

  5. Finally succumbed to Kraftwerk 3D a@ £34….shows the power of this site or my lack of willpower; having no real interest in purchasing this set before the deal.
Although likely to be in vain, still waiting for a deal for both Marc Almond “Trials of eyeliner” & Soft Cell “ Keychains…….” boxsets.

    1. Just received Kraftwerk set….. 3 CD’s in, so glad I did pull the trigger. At this price a great purchase for any discerning music lover. #RIPRalf

  6. The super deluxe 10 LP/DVD is available again on the official Prince store. Not a deal but this set is selling for crazy money on eBay.

    1. There is something very odd with the way this set appears and disappears and fluctuates between £34, £42, £66. It’s currently now “Temporarily Unavailable” which usually means gone for good in Amazon language, but might be worth watching for a while if you still need it.
Orders are being fulfilled though. Mine arrived yesterday.

    2. Yep, it’s all over the place. Back at £34 as of now (2 a.m. Sunday morning). Finally got it at the lowest price it’s appearing at, and cancelled the order for it at £42. Just hope it will arrive now….

    3. £37 as of Sunday 25th at 17:00. I haven’t once been able to get it at £34 so figured I’d grab it anyway. Amazon’s product descriptions and reviews on this are all over the shop, given the different formats and (minor) title variants. Ultimately, it doesn’t seem that great a reduction since Amazon are showing it at £42 RRP, but it’s a reasonable PPD (price-per-disc) for me, anyway.

      1. Sorry you missed out. I think the Nov 10th message is left over from the original pre-release batch. I received a shipping notification this morning for mine. I think HMV must have just found a box somewhere and lazily re-used the original listing

    1. Somebody must have recently found a boxful of unsold signed CDs in a lock-up somewhere. I can’t see Kylie bothering to sign them now so long after the event. Quite why it takes until November to dispatch is anyone’s guess.

  7. Just a heads-up to say that I saw the Amazon Germany deal on the Paul McCartney books today and remembered that I had already put a pre-order in when Paul and SDE first pointed out the original cheap-but-not-as-cheap-as-this price.

However, when I examined my pre-order, it was still showing as €56 – the reason being the new Amazon DE listing is correctly credited to Paul McCartney but my order was credited to A.N. Other!

So the pre-order price guarantee didn’t automatically kick in. Fortunately enough, I had time to cancel my original order and re-order at the lower price (€49).

Anybody who has already put their pre-order in should do the same!

    1. I also preordered from Amazon de when the previous alert came up at about 56€ I think. When I saw the new alert I was intrigued because the artwork appeared to be different. Compared the two listings on Amazon de and noticed that the ISBN numbers were different. Therefore assumed that there may be a first and second edition with different artwork. Hence did not cancel my original order for the ‘first’ edition. Anyone got any further insight on this?

    2. Scrolled down and spotted that the green cover is the American version so glad I did not cancel my original order as prefer the look of the EU edition

      1. Green cover is only a slipcase, so I won’t be spending much time looking at it! Glad I got the cheaper price as I would never have ordered this set if it was any dearer. I’m more of a casual Beatles fan than many here.

        1. Good point and actually I do like the split image of Paul’s face on the spine of the US edition. Another difference I noticed is the the two books are split A-L and M-Z in EU edition but A-K and L-Z in the US. I need to get out more!

  8. Just when Kraftwerk are mentioned….Paul, the search seems to have become a bit erratic since the upgrade. If you search for Kraftwerk there’s no mention of The Catalogue articles from a few years back. Searching for Pink Floyd doesn’t bring up Delicate Sound of Thunder articles. It’s a big thumbs up for the redesign aside from that!

  9. Bugger! I ordered mine when they came back in stock and received it on Sunday. Thought I was getting a bargain at £50! £34 was an absolute steal!

  10. If you thought last week’s Amazon UK deal on Kraftwerk 3D 8CD Box for £42 was good, then hold on to your hat….it’s now (4pm Tuesday) reduced to £34!!
It initially looked like a repress when it became available again last week, but the Rough Trade pre-order details have now gone and it’s back showing as out of stock there. I’d say it’s likely that Amazon are shipping in some remaindered stock from elsewhere. They are quoting delivery as early May so likely they do have stock identified.

      1. Be warned though, if you pre-ordered last week at £42 Amazon have NOT adjusted your price and when contacted via Chat refused to do so. The complacent arrogance of a monopoly in full effect.

        1. I’m not sure about that. Amazon have a pre-order price guarantee and this isn’t a pre-order. The product is four years old. They don’t have any obligation and they aren’t breaking any promises… as far as I’m aware.

          1. This is correct Paul – no obligation on Amazon whatsoever to reduce cost on orders from last week. Pre-order price guarantee doesn’t apply.
Nothing to stop an order from last week being cancelled by the customer as the item hasn’t shipped yet, and then being reordered at lower cost. However, if Amazon receive less (or damaged stock) and can’t fulfil all orders, you would be lower back in the queue as it were….

          2. I cancelled my Kraftwerk 3D order, priced at £42, and re-ordered at £34. Amazon wouldn’t have automatically lowered the price of my order because it isn’t a pre-order.

  11. Black Sabbath’s Sabotage 3CD box set (I refuse to count the 2-track CD) is about £50 on Amazon US – £36 plus taxes and shipping – which is about £25-30 cheaper than the insane UK price.

Still pricey, but they’re nicely presented sets.

  12. Labi Siffre My Song – 50th Anniversary (9CD Box Set) still has a decent deal on the hard to locate on Amazon (UK) “unsigned” version. djangokill and myself used the following link for an “unsigned” copy, but both got signed ones anyway. It’s a great price and worth the risk since the “signed” is currently unavailable. Currently £31.38 here: https://amzn.to/3x7HP09

  13. That Ultravox price is well worth it. I got mine for £35 and don’t regret it all. Loads of great music plus when I bought it, I stuck my old 2 CD release up on eBay and got £9.00 for it, so I look at it that the super deluxe version cost me £26 ! That’s what I tell myself anyway :D

    1. This is an interesting one. It has been “Temporarily Unavailable” at £70 for some time. Now it’s “Temporarily Unavailable” at £50. It will be interesting to see if they can honor these orders.
Amazon will of course provide an Autorip when an order is placed. If they cant subsequently honor the order, and you’ve already downloaded the Autorip, do you get to keep the Autorip without charge?

        1. I have been following/ trying to get the Kinks Arthur Box Set and that has been Temporarily Out of Stock for ages, but bouncing about in price. I still hope to get it.

      1. They can only honour the orders if they get repressed. I had this with a few box sets which were ‘temporarily out of stock’ for months then I just got an email saying they were cancelling the orders as they could no longer fulfil them.

      1. It’s been ‘temporarily out of stock’ for over 6 months so I wouldn’t hold your breath! I had the same with some other box set which were ‘temporarily out of stock’ & a few months after ordering they just cancelled the orders

  14. Looks like the 2017 ‘live’ Kraftwerk ‘3D – The Catalogue’ box set has had a repress? (Rough Trade are indicating it as a pre-order). Anyway, it has been at sky-high prices on the secondary market for a good while, but Amazon UK now have the 8CD version at £42 (in stock 27 April).

      1. DJEdster – it seems to default to a merchant (rather than Amazon itself), but if you click on “3 New from £42.81″ below ‘Audio CD £67.91” box you can chose Amazon as the supplier at £42.81 with free p&p. Hope this helps/works for you ..

        1. Thanks, missed this last week. It’s £50.80 this way now but delivery in 1 to 3 weeks? I’ve gone for it anyway because if the price goes back to £42.81 in that period they will probably match it.

    1. Kraftwerk 3D, 8CD box is now £34.72 on Amazon UK. The header price is £66.88, which is a secondary seller, but if you scroll down you’ll see ‘sold and dispatched by Amazon’ for £34.72. You need to click on the listing to see it. Bargain price.

  15. Scroll to the comments takes a good look away for me. Vertiginous again. Can’t take much to stop this strolling. Miss out on reading articles cause of it.

      1. The scrolling made me dizzy on the vinyl pressing section. Would be great to just jump straight to the comments obv after reading the main section first !.

        1. That would be a classic lose/lose-situation for Paul then…

I also don’t have a problem with the scrolling but if it endangers some readers health then i’d say try another way of getting to the comments.

It sounds a bit like the problems that epileptics experience with stroboscopic images.

    1. Yes it is bad, makes me go all weird, just scrolls way too fast.

I realise a lot of work went into this, and i don’t want to piss anybody off (Paul) but i just don’t like it, the old set up was simple and easy to find articles, this is a nightmare and i don’t come on here much since the revamp – used to come on 50+ times a day before!

      1. I get that some people specifically don’t like/have issues with that scroll and I’ll probably get that changed. In terms of the overall change everyone is entitled to their opinion but saying “this is a nightmare”… Really?

        1. I don’t think it’s “a nightmare”. It’s just different… VERY different.

Think i’ll be getting used to it over time but for people who buy their favourite albums over and over again for literally decades i guess that might be a bit too much change at one time. ;-)

    2. Yes, I think it needs condensing in the vertical scale and the horizontal scale of the “advertising” is also taking up too much of the horizontal for me. Everything is too strung out and off-putting.

      1. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. You walk into the same room for 10 years and now the furniture has moved and looks and feels slightly different. I get it. There will be tweaks and improvements over time.

  16. The unsigned version of the Labi Siffre box has jumped up to £40 but the signed box is still available at about £35. So, right now, you’ll pay less to get a signed copy. It’d be rude not to!
