  1. There was a wobble on the Prince Sign o the times box, it went up £50 on Friday but went back to £159 yesterday.

So, I’m guessing if yr gonna, then there’s not much time/many left

    1. I took a punt on an Amazon Warehouse deal for this this week – paid around £116 for a box with “moderate cosmetic damage”, expecting it to be battered. What turned up was in pristine condition with a very small rip to the shrinkwrap. Bargain!

  2. This George Michael news is much less shocking than the Taylor Hawkins news.

    I am shocked and saddened.

Gone before his time a la Hendrix and all the others.

Which brings me to : why no Foo fighters SDE ? they are arguably one of the biggest/most popular rock bands around, and with 25+ years under their belts, have both a wealth of material to expunge and a horde of devotees to thrust it all upon. There is all Taylor Hawkins’ side projects too and the Dennis Wilson-related stuff as well. Give it to us!

    Everlong.

    1. The paucity of deluxe material from the Foos is really astonishing – there are 40-50 B-Sides that are really hard to find, plus hundreds of live shows recorded (some bits and pieces released digitally recently).

It’s wild that their only “deluxe” reissue was the 10th anniversary of The Colour & The Shape with its 6 bonus tracks.

It will be very, very sad and strange to see the Foos without Hawkins going forward. I’ve seen them live 4 or 5 times (all with him on drums), and I’ll always remember Taylor (brilliantly) fronting a version of Rock And Roll with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones and Grohl on drums at Wembley Stadium.

  3. I just got Zoot Money’s 1966 And All That / Big Time Operator Limited Edition of 2000 Box Set. 4 CDs , with a ‘dubiously’ signed card, but superb value at about £15 or less. I paid just over £13.It is excellent. .

    1. Thanks for the tip off, just received mine.
I agree that the signature does look dubious but mine is slightly different and in a different position to the one pictured on Discogs, so I’m not sure.
Great value box set either way. Thanks.

  4. Anyone here read Mojo? Jack White, Third Man Records. will be releasing the Camille LP. No idea when or if it’ll be stupidly limited like the SooT singles boxset but still… :)

  5. Luckily for me I was checking my emails over lunch and saw the “Sell Out” deal. I manages to get the $62 deal; I’m sure others have stated that the price went up to $70 a few hours after that.

The only bummer is that it was supposed to get to me today (Friday) but I just received a notice it isn’t coming until Saturday. I’ll ask Amazon about that.

Thanks for the newsletter Paul. I never would have seen the deal without it!

  6. Couple of “oldies” for you…

The 4DVD/CD version of the Rolling Stones’s Totally Stripped is down to £28 on Amazon UK.

And the 3CD 25th Anniversary version of Peter Gabriel’s So is £7.80.

  7. I ordered the Who this afternoon from Amazon at this great price! Thank you Paul!
I also preordered Robert Fripp’s Box Set. I wouldn’t have known about it without your great newsletter!
Keep up the great work and many thanks!! Mark Pianoman

    1. Just ordered! I had just logged in to SDE to let everyone know the price had gone down again, but I’m happy to see it’s already part of the week’s Deals. I’d been avoiding this one for some reason. It’s my favorite Who album, but the 1995(?) CD with all the bonus tracks has been my Perfect Edition from the moment I bought it. I did get the 2CD version of this new release, and I find it a little bit shrill on the high end. The mix seems very different, too: guitar parts that I remember hitting hard on the 90s CD are buried in this one. But I’ll dig in to the big box at this ridiculous discount and I’m sure I’ll find lots to enjoy.

  8. The Black Crowes ‘Shake your money maker’ 3cd reissue is available for about £9.50 using the MusicMagpie ebay site (and the 20% off voucher) which seems a decent price.

  9. The Kinks’ Lola Versus Powerman 3CD/2×7″ box set is back down to £31 on Amazon UK.

And Neil Young’s Way Down In The Rust Bucket box (2LP/2CD/DVD) is £48 – might be the lowest I’ve seen it.

  10. Thanks Paul. Got the Stones box set – unbelievable value, what a bargain ! Forty quid ?! Originally a hundred and ten on my Amazon Wish List ! Just waiting for the Sabbath Technical Ecstacy deluxe vinyl set to do the same ! Cheers again. Mick

  11. HMV & Amazon both sold out at £40 price
However, on EbayUK, Music Magpie are listing at £35.10. There is also an Ebay promotion on at the moment where you enter the code BAG20 to get a further 20% off. This reduces the price to a ridiculously low £28.10 and free postage!

  12. I got the 3 cd/blu ray version via the offer previously posted on here that was/may still be on ebay which meant I got it for a little over £30. I also have the single LP remaster/remix that I got in my favourite local record shop Bending Sound for a little over £8 and the 2CD version as well as the previous 2009 remaster of this classic album. I’m hoping they might do the same with Tattoo You eventually though that might take a little while yet as it’s not long out.
