  1. Amazon USA matched Target’s 3 for 2 promo on select items. Not a lot of choice but there are a few diamond. I did manage to get the Stones Tattoo You vinyl box and Beatles Abbey Road and Let It Be vinyl boxes for only $213 total!! The Bowie vinyl boxes Brilliant Adventure and Toy are also part of the promo. All these boxes are also on regular sale as it is. Bowie’s Brilliant Adventure vinyl box is $292 and Toy is $77. The vinyl Tattoo You box is $80 and the Abbey Road is $49 and Let It Be box is $69.

If you really want to binge on Bowie vinyl, Target has the A New Career In A New Town vinyl box for $202(!) and you can make it part of their 3 for 2.
Importcds.com has the Bowie vinyl boxes of A New Career In A New Town and Who Can I Be Now for $241 and if you apply the HAPPY10 discount code you even get 10% off so they are then $217!!

  2. Pink Floyd’s rather underwhelming Pulse Blu-ray is down to £27.59 on Amazon UK if anyone needs it.
Two other box sets going down are the Britpop Caught Beneath the Landslide at a frankly tempting £20.28 and Gary Crowley’s Lost 80s 2 at £21.74.

  3. The ‘Amazon Exclusive Signed Art Card’ edition of Florence + The Machine’s ‘Dance Fever’ is down to £7.99 at Amazon UK at the moment, down from £10.99.

  4. The Tool – Fear Inoculum deluxe CD edition with the mad video player packaging is down to £43 on Amazon UK. Still pricey but cheaper than the £70+ original price.

  5. Amazon.de have the 3CD+DVD combo of George Michael’s Listen Without Prejudice on offer for 30€. Don’t know if this the lowest price to date but I’m quite tempted now to pull the trigger.

  6. AMAZON.FR to UK query. (Not deal related), but please can anyone advise me? I’m in the UK. I pre-ordered a couple of items (totalling about £70) from Amazon.fr back in April. Today I have ordered another item (about £117) again from Amazon.fr. Now both items have the sub £135 VAT charged on them by Amazon and I paid separate shipping for each order. It just so happens both are released on 10th June. Has anyone had this before where I guess there’s a chance Amazon.fr might ship them all together and if so, that total box will be over £135. Could it possibly get into further charges, or is it all sorted as they are two unique orders, ordered separately on different dates with separate postage? It’s just with them being released on the same day that I’m asking the question. Thanks in advance.

    1. Amazon should have charged and collected correct VAT at point of ordering. I wouldn’t expect to be charged anything additional. I have had similar combined orders (totalling about £250) come through from Amazon Germany without any problem.
I have equally ordered multiple items from European Amazon sites only to find they were ultimately shipped to me from somewhere in Scotland!

      1. Thanks very much SimonP2 for taking the time to share your experience. I expected what you have described to be the case, but it is reassuring to hear your experience, as it is the first time two orders from the same European amazon are released on the same day for me.

        1. Oh I see. It just appeared for me at the top of the page whenever I viewed an item.
It did say they were limited but I didn’t realise they were exclusive.

Apologies if I have misled anyone.

    1. I’ve been aware of Mary Gauthier for quite a while but never heard her until the last few days. A friend of mine recommended her new album ‘Dark Enough To See The Stars’ so I ordered the LP. Then I saw your post Bill (thanks) and went to her online site and ordered those 10 CDs. So now I have almost her full discography, according to Discogs she has 12 albums including the latest.

I’m supposed to be having a cut back on buying albums, in the last 6 days I’ve bought 29 CDs, 1 Box Setband 5 LPs, mind you I’ve just sold several albums so it’s’swings and roundabouts’

      1. Haha, sounds so familiar. I’m supposed to cut back too and just went thru a buying spree. Al Stewart box alone was 50 cd’s. Waiting for Robert Fripp 32 disc box, Elton John’s Madman, Prince live box and a bunch of colored vinyls (among a lot more stuff). Someone please help.

      2. Hi Golden Age,

if you’ve already bought her newest release then you own the whole body of work (so far) because (confusingly) the album “Genesis (The Early Years)” is a compilation of songs from her first five albums although not listed as such on Discogs.

    2. Thanks Bill,

i’ve just ordered the bundle featuring the 10 cds and her book and added the new album and a t-shirt with its cover art for a total of 140 US Greenbacks including shipping from the States to Germany.

I quite enjoyed Mary Gauthier’s work when “Mercy Now” was her current record but i only ever bought that one and, i think, two more so i thought that i’d certainly enjoy the lot…

Watched her in the 90ies performing in nearby Netherlands and was the happy provider of a hanky when she got overwhelmed by her feelings announcing a special song (can’t remember which one though) because i sat right next to the stage of the club.

  7. Not a physical product deal but hopefully permissible as may be useful to some readers. Ticketmaster UK currently has a 2 for 1 deal on tickets for most shows on Tears For Fears UK summer tour. Offer ends Sunday.

  8. Amazon UK are price matching HMV on their flash sale again, so Cat Stevens Teaser & The Firecat set is an excellent £45.

And Rory Gallagher 50th self titled 2CD is £6.50 (worth noting the vinyl is also down to £26, which is really decent)

Also noticed Brian May’s Back to The Light Collectors Edition is £37 and the Another World set with the blue vinyl is £60.

  9. Thank you! Just bought the limited edition colored vinyl of Madman Across The Water with 20% off, only $23. It’s cool looking propeller shaped coloring. Limited at 4 per customer (I just bought one).

  10. Neil Young’s new Official Release Series Discs 13, 14, 20 & 21 is down to £39.50 on Amazon UK. Still expensive for 3.5 albums with no extras and (by all accounts) a questionable amount of remastering, but £10 down on where it started a few weeks ago.

  11. Hi,please can you tell me how to get the Elton John deal on the 4 lap box set? I have a problem finding the voucher you have to click on to generate the £25 price..Ash.

  12. Just had an e-mail saying limited stock of Suzanne Vega’s Close-up 6CD Pack (actually 5CD and one DVD) have been made available online for £40 (P&P in the UK adds £4.50). Not sure how difficult these have been to come by recently following the vinyl release, but might be of interest to some. “The Close Up Series is housed in a hard bound book and contains the four CDs in the series plus a fifth CD of bonus material and a DVD filmed at New York City’s City Winery venue”. 1. I assist Kauwgompie’s comment though i think that it already has been back in print a year or two ago.
Of course they had already sold out when i learned about it so your post is much appreciated by me too, Dolby.

I just ordered one too and even the dreaded shipping costs @ Townsend Music for once seemed reasonable: 9 Euro tracked to Germany.

      Out of interest Kauwgompie:

Did you also use the link shared by Dolby or have you found a cheaper option sent from the US?

      1. Klaus, when I clicked on the link, it automatically brought me to the US store. Even though it was the US store, shipping was still $18, ridiculous for intra US. Total price including taxes was $68. Yours?

        1. Townsend Music Store postage is a complete mystery – £4.50 within the UK for a six-disc hardback book set from Suzanne Vega yet the forthcoming new Hugh Cornwell album is £7.00 for just a cd and photograph – generally their p&p is too high, and has put me off purchases from them. Having said that, p&p at a number of online music/artist stores seems to have become much higher recently – £7.65 for a Pink Floyd charity t-shirt is c. 20% of the item value.

        2. Hi Kauwgompie,

i was automatically directed to the UK store and the site switched the currency to Euro right away.

Price then was 48 € stating that VAT had already been included so hopefully no bad surprises once it arrives.

They offered shipping for an additional 8 € via DHL Global but at the checkout i noticed that i could also let them send it via DP (whoever that is) tracked for just one Euro more.

So 57 € in total, which is astonishing because i think it was about 15 to 20 € more here in Germany when you could first buy it from shops in 2014.

So i’m a very happy bunny right now…

          1. Okay. Thanks for highlighting this Thojaa.

During checkout they clearly stated that VAT is already included in the total sum for the order.

If that should be untrue i’d felt deceived (which surely won’t be a good start of doing business with them).

Has anyone here already ordered something from TM to a country within the EU and can tell us about their experience?

          2. I tried to post about this already (and to thank Dolby for the alert) but the comment hasn’t appeared so I’m trying again. My experience of ordering from TM to Ireland is that although they do charge VAT at the correct rate, I’ve always been met with a demand for the VAT again (plus a “processing fee”) from the delivery company, be that the local post office or a courier company. I was even charged full VAT plus fee on an item I didn’t pay anything for (a replacement for a damaged item) based on the declared value on the package. I can only conclude that TM aren’t declaring the VAT properly even thought they are charging it, or the local revenue and post are taking advantage of another Brexit shi….unforeseen circumstance.

Your mileage may vary depending on how diligent the local revenue/post are, but that’s my experience.

          3. I made myself familiar with the topic of VAT-chargements for goods sent to the EU now and learned about the IOSS process when looking into it.

It’s a method (on a voluntary base) for sellers residing outside the EU to ship to the EU while directly paying VAT at the rate of the country the customer lives in.

This only deals with orders up to a worth of 150 € (including shipping cost) and should ideally prevent the customer (i.e. you and me) from having to pay additional charges at the time of delivery.

On TMs website i found the following part under “Customs and Import Charges”:

TM Stores follows the EU’s IOSS process for sending parcels to European territories under the IOSS number of IM2500016003

So my understanding now is that it would not be alright, if the postal service in my country tries to charge me the VAT for a second time…

I’ll wait and see and will post here again on the final outcome.

          4. The postal service here told me that the IOSS number needs to be on the customs declaration, otherwise you will get charged VAT again locally, although in theory you can claim the VAT back from TM Stores if you had to pay it locally. I haven’t tried this yet, though.

          5. As promised here comes the final result of my “Close Up”-book style deluxe edition order by Suzanne Vega: Good news for EU-customers on the Townsend Music front. They happen to get it right and print their IOSS number on the sticker for customs declaration ‘loud and clear’ so no extra charges when the parcel arrived from Burnley after a 14-days-sightseeing trip around Europe.

Same can sadly not be said about the xPropaganda live record that Kauwgompie suggested from Bandstand. Although this looks like a small bubble wrap envelope sent by a private person, declared as a “Gift” and the worth of it is given as 5 £ someone in bad mood at customs service decided to raise a non specified sum of 1.14 € i had to pay an extra 7.14 € because of the beloved handling fee asked for by DHL…

Nothing to say as of now about Paul’s parcel with the BRA by xPropaganda, that one hasn’t arrived yet though it was sent before the Bandstand-cd…

    2. Oh my God, just seen this. Having got a copy of the RSD album, I had been dithering about picking up the vinyl box to go with it. But I’ve now gone for the CD/DVD box. Thanks so much!
By the way the RSD vinyl is still available from banquet records.

  13. It’s very hard to argue against the VFM of the Elton John 4 Lp set. I have it, so need to rule myself out of another purchase; especially as I’m sitting in the sun in Cyprus, whilst my beloved is in the cooler climate of Newcastle.

Another excellent deal is Marillion’s Fugazi vinyl box set. I already have this as well, but I did think of Chris Squires, who mentioned it might be a buy if it dropped a few pounds more. Well it’s now an amazing £31 for the four Lp box set:

    https://amzn.to/3a17tN7

    1. £25 for the Elton? Rude not to. Not drunk enough to go for Fugazi yet. Something about three LPs of live material just doesn’t quite do it for me…BUT…. the artwork, the box…. something makes me want it.

    1. Wait. What? I pre-ordered that one. Amazon honored their price drop on my order already. That’s a significant reduction. I wonder if the initial order numbers are low.

      1. Given up on pre-ordering Elton. If there is one thing we have learnt in recent years, it is that Elton John new releases will dive in price post-release quicker than a Marillion Fugazi box…..

  14. Blimey and I thought getting the Abba one for a tenner was a good price! And I still haven’t played the damn thing. Have picked up Nirvana CD as I only have the original vinyl. Thanks for the alert!

    1. The Magnificent Seven is always considerably cheaper (and New) on eBay to be honest.
There is a GlobalDeals listing for £19.99 currently and several in the £20-30 bracket.
