  1. Few John Lennon bits –

A nice price on the excellent 2CD John Lennon Gimme Some Truth compilation (the one with the Ultimate Mixes on it) – down to £8.99. The 1CD version is £7.19 as well, but the 2CD one is the one to go for.

You can also pick up the 1CD versions of the Plastic Ono Band Ultimate Mixes for £5.89 and the Imagine Ultimate Mixes for £6.69

    1. Thanks Pim,

just ordered plus the new Thin Lizzy cd/dvd/br set and the King Crimson US tour 2021 compilation ‘Music Is My Friend’, which are also a few Euro cheaper via coupon.

      1. Hi Pim,

out of curiousity: Have you received your copy yet and if so is everything okay with it?

Mine arrived on Thursday but will be returned as it obviously received a heavy bump that caused one corner of the box to split.

Needless to say that Amazon has sent the 5 kg heavy, worth 170 € box in a flimsy brown paper bag similar to those you get when you buy something at McDrive…

  2. There’s a couple of copies of the 4BR/CD Rolling Stones Totally Stripped box set on Amazon UK at £30, which is a decent price (it’s been hovering around £40 for ages).

  3. David Bowie (Brilliant Adventure 1992-2001) currently £255 at Amazon UK. It has been cheaper but certainly better than the £349 HMV (and many other independent shops) are currently charging!

  4. For those in the US, the Barnes & Noble Criterion sale is back on. All Criterion Blu-rays, DVDs, and 4K UHD discs are 50% off, both online and in stores, through July 31. Includes several music-related releases such as the 4ks of A Hard Days Night and The Last Waltz as well as Blu-Rays for True Stories, Buena Vista Social Club, Festival, Don’t Look Back, Gimme Shelter, Quadrophenia and Monterey Pop. Lots of great movies too of course. Free domestic shipping if you spend $40 or more.

    1. Not shipping to the UK or the EC.
Amazon USA is matching prices though, 24,99$ for UHDs and 19,99$ for blurays but not all titles yet. Some preorders included too.

  5. 15% off at Music Magpie on eBay when you spend £9.99, code is DEAL15. A few recent bits in there (e.g. Abba CD Album Box Set is £35 and Madman Across The Water CD box is £52)

  6. Townsend Records have 30% off some of the RSD22 drop 1 vinyl releases (incl Elton John, Suede, Motorhead, Stones, Bowie, Bernard Butler). Worth a look if you missed something a couple of months ago.

  7. More Amazon US deals.

  8. Thanks Paul. Been weighing up the options regarding Bowie boxset vs individual releases as someone who hasn’t bought any of the boxsets but don’t have any of those studio albums, this has just answered my dilemma.

  9. Not a deal but I notice that Neil Young just announced yet another new album (another live one, this time contemporary, recorded 2019) before his next album (Toast) is even released. He really is making hay while he can, I guess. Especially as, yet again, the standalone (quite expensive) Blu Ray is only available at his store.

    1. Good on Shakey, keep em coming I say. TheNoise & Flowers(thats the name of the live album) Bluray is £20 at the UK Greedy Handstore, the double LP is £25.99, the CD is £9.99 the box set containing all 3 is £78.99, the only extra is the box!

Seeing as Ive bought all the Shakey releases this year (Toast 2LP included) plus a few bootlegs in addition to the Official Bootlegs, Ive still plenty to play, so Ill wait and see if the Box drops in price as all the others have. Im normally ordering right away for anything Shakey but the Noise & Flowers release isn`t likely to be the last release of his this year.

  10. If anyone can be bothered with a ludicrous bit of novelty music ephemera, that “disc-less” Lorde album box is £6 on Amazon UK at the moment.

Probably the price it should’ve launched at and you can’t complain too much about £6 for a really high quality lossless download only album, but if you fancy a nice mostly-empty box on your shelf, now’s the time.

    1. I’ve always thought there’s a good idea in here somewhere, a bit like the Beatles USB some time ago, collector’s who want something physical but have little space for a collection, but I don’t think a disc less box is it, not that I have any other suggestions lol

      1. It’s the crappiest bit of marketing ever. An eco failure on many levels, but worse still a campaign that cost Lorde a fan. Cds are still mainstream in my universe. I’d be totally gutted if my favourite artists tried this stunt. That said, Green Light is brilliant.

  11. Art book publisher Taschen is having its annual summer sale from today until sunday.

Besides other music related titles for the first time an edition of Anton Corbijn’s book with photography of Depeche Mode ‘DM by AC’ is included.
Normally still 100 €, it is currently reduced to 50 €.

You’d better be quick though if interested, because from experience with other titles the stock is fairly limited (usually items that were on display in their stationary shops) and i dare to say that these will probably not even last until tonight let alone sunday.

The website does geo-tagging, so this offer might either not be available or not at the same price in other territories than Germany.

    1. I believe the DM book is about 60 quid on Amazon UK if you can’t get Germany to play ball. And – if you have an account – it was about 57 quid at Costco (UK) last time I was there. I’m trying to justify it, having recently bought and received the amazing Monument book about DM.

  12. Slim pickings at the moment (Prime Day is in a month so maybe a couple of things will appear in there) but a couple of compilations have dropped back down in price a bit on Amazon UK.

    Gary Crowley’s Lost 80s 2 is £19.99
Caught Beneath The Landslide is £17.90

And Elton John’s Madman CD box is £46 on Amazon IT (though I have a feeling that box will drop in price everywhere, much like the Jewel Box did).

  13. You mean 99 dollars for The Who’s Sell Out … I wish it was 50 dollars because I need to buy another box set so I can scan the book. I don’t know why they don’t make a PDF of it somehow someway like The Beatles do so I don’t have to sit there and scan a big book like that…wait a second I need a 12×12 to scan that book ….. Anyone have a PDF of this book …

  14. Thanks for the heads up on Yello 40 years, been sitting on the fence for a while but too good to miss at this price. I also used a £20 voucher, so paid £9.99, in the end. Not bad for a starting point of £68.00. Cheers Paul.

  15. The Tony Visconti signed version of the 5CD T.Rex 1972 box has dropped to £61 on Amazon UK.

As always with that box – there are LOADS of reports of the CDs not playing on older CD players. But, to be fair, Demon are sorting out replacement discs if you get one of the shoddy versions (google ‘Demon trex 1972 cd fault’)

  16. 3CD 20th Anniversary edition of the phenomenal Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals is down to £12 on Amazon UK.

And a slight curio for completists I guess, but the recent Flaming Lips – Soft Bulletin Companion CD is down to £5. If you’re a big fan of that album it’s a nice little collection of alternative takes and rare stuff but the packaging is as basic as I’ve ever seen from an official release (a very, very thin white cardboard slip case just like a free CD that you get with magazines, but with a sticker on the front and a sticker on the back to look like a handmade promo or something).

    1. RE: Flaming Lips, it’s basically a replica of a CD that was distributed by the band / producer at the time, hence the basic packaging. Along with the original album and the Soft Bulletin: Live At Red Rocks album, it almost acts as a DIY deluxe edition. Add in the SB DVD and you can have yourself a DIY super deluxe edition! btw, The Soft Bulletin is the best album ever!

  17. By the way, that Blondie cd box is sold out in the Blondie store, on JPC.de and the Numero store (who made the box I believe) so people sitting on the fence about this box should make up their mind sooner rather than later. Waiting for a deal here could mean you miss out. Best price in the US is the Udiscovermusic store with the 25% off with code summer2022. In Europe the best deal is from Amazon France.

  18. Wanted the Yello 40 box but deal looked over…recently, I saw some deals with Neil Young on Amazon US…I swung for the box of Young Shakespeare, which dropped from like $77 to $35…saw Return to Greendale dropped to like $40…on an unrelated note, today being the RSD June Drop Day, I picked up the Prince, Sweet & Peter Gabriel (along with the 3CD Beach Boys Sounds of Summer, Purple Rain Live & CD reissue of the Gold Experience) plus today was the last day of Target’s sale of Buy 2 get a 3rd title free, so I got the Target exclusive coloured vinyl of Ariana Grande Positions (glow in the dark green & 2 posters of the alternate covers) & 2LP Neil Diamond hits collection (crystal clear) and for free that 2CD Sheryl Crow collection…not a bad day at all…

  19. Lots of nonsense going on with the Blondie box set. Bonus tracks reduced to 42 from 52 and huge price increases during the roll out. The box is available for 25% off at the Udiscovermusic store with code summer2022. This makes a particular good deal for the limited 4lp red vinyl box which is then $172.
    https://shop.udiscovermusic.com/collections/pre-orders/products/blondie-against-the-odds-1974-1982-limited-edition-4lp

Also the new Paul McCartney limited color vinyl box is included in the deal which makes it $75. That’s $25 per vinyl and they come in a box with cards so price wise that’s good. The release remains a dud of course but hey, it McCartney and it’s limited.

    1. I thought the difference in bonus tracks was something to do with the CD version not including the extra ones you get in the vinyl box with the bonus 10″ and 7″? But yeah I see what you mean about the prices. They’ve sure gone up on the blondie site. £80 extra for red vinyl. Yikes!

    1. Choose carefully though – although 30% seems like a decent discount, you’ll find on many items they have hiked the price up by about 30% before applying the discount, so no real savings on most of them…

    2. Christ on a bike. Their prices are eye-watering. Put 5 items in my basket and took them all out again. Aerial is £55! Standard albums are routinely £35 and stuff like the last Kraftwerk reissues are £45 for a single album.

I know taking 30% off brings it back down to something approaching almost acceptable but it seems a bit of sharp practice to have them that high in tha first place.

      1. Yeah. Totally sharp practice – £50 for Neil Young Harvest!!
The only thing I bought was the Mick Fleetwood and friends tribute concert for Peter Green which worked out to be £28 for the 4 vinyl set, with the Amazon Uk price being £40.
Noticed the Beautiful Garbage standard vinyl came down to £16 at HMV with the 30% off, while Amazon.UK had the same product at £12! Take care indeed!

    1. I can’t make any guarantees about this pressing, but my original copy is one of the best sounding albums I own, it sounds incredible.

(A few people in the reviews have mentioned this copy skipping, but of course they might be playing it on junk.)

    1. Thanks for the tip – Ordered, despite the fact 20% UK VAT makes this box set just over £50. Glad I decided to stick with just purchasing Frank Black on CD as those solo coloured vinyl LP’s would have required too much of an investment & space !

But there is now a £140 box set on the way…

Also you persuaded me of my decision not to purchase those two TFF 1921 century HMV LP’s (£70 investment ) available today on RSD day…. sometimes not being a completist is a good feeling in my wallet.

Thanks Paul for my TFF Tipping The Point Bluray arriving yesterday :)

    1. I really liked Anthems for Doomed Youth … also announce yesterday for Libertines fans: “Up The Bracket 20th Anniversary Edition is available to pre-order now on the following formats:

      – Deluxe Double Vinyl, ‘Up The Bracket’ (Remastered) and ‘Live at the 100 Club’
      – Deluxe Double CD, ‘Up The Bracket’ (Remastered) and ‘Live at the 100 Club’
      – Digital download, ‘Up The Bracket’ (Remastered) and ‘Live at the 100 Club’”
      Released 21 October 2022.

  20. I just received an email from Scott Davies over at Rubellan Remasters. He has some CDs on sale/close out. If you haven’t visited his site in a while, this might be a great time to do that.

      1. I posted that about 5 days ago and it appears the sale is over…with a few completely sold out. If you see something of interest even at the full price, I’d pull the trigger as I understand some of the remaining titles on offer won’t be repressed again. Just check the price for some of those Visage CDs now out of print…

  21. Amazon US has Depeche Mode Ultra 12″ singles for $87 and Black Celebration 12″ for $75. Also a version of 101 that is $95 and part of the 3 for 2 sale. Amazon is matching the sale at Target, but Target deal also includes preorders, so Blondie, George Michael, Madonna Finally Enough Love, Michael Jackson Thriller 40th, Beatles Get Back Blu-Ray available for the 3 for 2 at Target. Sale ends June 18 when Amazon US also probably ends.

    1. Thanks @steve6571 for the tip re Target. The Beatles Get Back Blu-Ray pre-orders were sold out. I was able to get the Elton John Madman 2CD, the new Spider Man movie on 4k and preorder the 3CD Blondie set for a great deal. Appreciate it.

  22. Been waiting for a bit of a drop on the Radiohead book but as it’s nearly my birthday I thought why not. Loved the hidden booklet they included in the first run of CDs of Kid A. Been a bit of a Radiohead related week what with the Smile vinyl coming out too…Ta for the heads up Mr Sinclair!
