This Week’s Box Set and Reissue Deals
UK: Howard Jones / One to One 3CD+DVD – £22
Amazing price for this forthcoming Howard Jones set which contains an enormous amount of content. Remastered album, plus two CDs of remixes, B-sides, demos and rarities and a DVD of promos and TV appearances!
UK: Prince / 1999 4LP black vinyl box set – £48 £65
With the 10LP 1999 box now out-of-print, the next best thing is this 4LP collection which features the album remaster over two LPs and then B-sides, remixes and single versions/edits on the other two records. Good price!
UK: Tangerine Dream / In Search of Hades: Virgin Recordings – £97
18-disc box set features the era 1973-1979. Includes 16 CDs and two blu-rays.
UK: Sting / My Songs – £5.99
19-track deluxe edition.
UK: Pink Floyd / The Later Years box set – £271 £300
Cheapest price to date. US fans should consider that with VAT deducted this UK offer equates to around $295 which is over $100 cheaper than the US price.
FRANCE: Supergrass / The Strange Ones 1994-2008 box set – €139 (or £119)
Save at least £30 on the UK price by ordering this from France. By far the cheapest place to pre-order the 19-disc box set which contains 13 CDs and six vinyl picture disc albums. You’ll pay £170 for this via Amazon in the UK.
USA: Depeche Mode / MODE 18CD box – $139.99 (approx £106)
By FAR the cheapest place to pre-order the box set which was delayed until 24 January. This set contains all the albums and four bonus CDs. While that’s a lot of repetition for fans, it’s easy to forgive at this price.
GERMANY: Temple of the Dog super deluxe – €53.99
The 2016 box set contains two CDS with new stereo mixes and unreleased demos, a DVD (of a live performance) and a blu-ray audio with 5.1 mixes and promo videos. Also £52 in the UK.
FRANCE: Jean Michel Jarre Oxygene Trilogy box set – €79 (or £68)
This is a six-disc set which comes with three vinyl records and three CDs of the trio of Oxygene albums. This is almost £40 off the UK price of the same set.
UK: Lindsey Buckingham / Solo Anthology 6LP vinyl box – £47
UK: a-ha / Minor Earth Major Sky 2CD deluxe – £13.74
This two-CD set was quite pricey initially but has now come down to a reasonable level, considering this is a massively generous double-disc deluxe with 20 bonus tracks, many previously unreleased demos. Lifelines deluxe is also a bit cheaper, as well.
UK: Wet Wet Wet / Popped In Souled Out super deluxe – £27 £38
UK: Liam Gallagher / Why Me? Why Not. CD – £5
Cheapest price to date for Liam’s surprisingly good solo album. This is the Amazon UK version with an exclusive slipcase.
UK: Stereophonics / Kind CD – £5
Stereophonics‘ number one album has only been out a couple of months, and can already be snapped up for a fiver! Great price.
UK: Kylie Minogue / Step Back in Time 3CD – £7.99
This is the three CD version with the bonus tracks and mega-mix on the third disc. The 2CD set is the same price, so this is a great deal.
UK: Chrissie Hynde / Valve Bone Woe CD – £5
Last year’s well received album featuring The Valve Bone Woe Ensemble.
UK: Alphaville / Forever Young 2CD deluxe – £9.99
This has been £16 for ages, so under a tenner is actually a very good price for last year’s expanded 2CD deluxe edition. This is missing the demos and the DVD from the super deluxe which is four times the price.
UK: Stevie Nicks / Stand Back 1981-2017 3CD set- £13.99
Last year’s anthology features remastered audio from all eight of Stevie Nicks‘ studio albums.
UK: Stevie Nicks / Bella Donna 3CD set- £6.99
UK: Various Artists / Woodstock: Back to the Garden 3CD set- £9.99
Down from £13.50, this set features a great selection of performances including Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker, The Band and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
UK: Simply Red / Blue Eyed Soul CD – £6.99
Last year’s Blue Eyed Soul was definitely no more than a solid three star effort, but remains an enjoyable (and funky) listen. A couple of decent ballads, particularly ‘Take A Good Look’ are a highlight.
UK: Depeche Mode / Spirit 2CD – £4.95
Great price for the well-package 2CD deluxe of Depeche Mode‘s last album. The bonus disc includes five remixes.
UK: Bad Company / Straight Shooter 2CD deluxe – £6.98
Best price to date for this 2CD deluxe. The second CD features 14 bonus tracks.
UK: Wilco / Ode to Joy CD – £5
UK: James Blunt / Once Upon A Mind CD – £4.99

A word of warning on the TOTD Super Deluxe I now have had 2 damaged but sealed copies from Amazon both had scratches on CD 1 and did not play. Amazon have now said the item will be withdrawn and investigated.
Is anyone having issues with Amazon and damaged faulty stock on new items? I have had the 3 following titles all new sealed but at least 1 disc in all 3 sets was scratched and did not play. Peaky Blinders ST, Simple Minds 40 Deluxe and TOTD Super Deluxe. Its bizarre, everything has gone back and been replaced. I am baffled how new items are arriving faulty and damaged, these have not been damaged in transit.
If anyone is near Banquet Records pop in, tons on sale including the Thom York’s Anima box set for £15
Bought the Wilco along with Jeff Tweedy’s Warm/Warmer double CD which was a pound cheaper than Warm on its own as a single disc.
Santana IV – Live At The House of Blues Las Vegas (DVD + 3 LP Set) at 21 € in amazon Germany https://amzn.to/2Qy21oz
Same Santana in jpc.de is at 18 € http://bit.ly/37DDTGW
As well as the Amazon deals which spring up regularly there are also some quite spectacular price rises. Have been keeping an eye on the Faces “You Can Make me Dance ….” for over a year now and seen it move from £100 to £72 then yesterday it goes to £128.99. £57 up overnight!
It’s currently available from What Records for £89.99 Colin.
Thanks Graham.
Amazon Italy is also much cheaper than UK. Its the extras record which is the attraction but IMHO the set remains overpriced.
Keep an eye on Whats January sale. I got it for £69.99 this time last year. Cheers, Graham.
great price for Beat Happening box on amazon.it
https://amzn.to/39OB0oE
Paul, the Simple Minds, Rejuvenation cd box now on sale for $49 on Amazon UK.
https://amzn.to/2N2KAub
I would not purchase Sting’s My Songs for one pound. Ick.
I feel the same about the LG album.
Music from the Big Pink 50th Anniversary Edition has now dropped another few quid on Amazon UK to £39.53. Whatever the perceived shortcomings of the set that’s probably a good price for a double vinyl L.P., a 7″ single and 3 CDs.
I’ve been pondering over the Howard Jones’ Deluxe Edition box set for a while. The superb drop in price has just helped me enough to decide to go for it!
Nice!
A few more (all on Amazon UK):
Primal Scream – Screamadelica 4CD boxset £7.57.
The Velvet Underground & Nico 45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition (6 CD set) £51.64.
The Band – Music from the Big Pink 50th anniversary vinyl and CD boxset £43
Concert for George (2 CD/2 blu ray) £23.69.
Thanks – but I can’t find the Screamadelica offer. Do you have a link, or has it gone already after half an hour?!!
It’s here I’ve just found it and bought it
https://amzn.to/2ZVx4h5
You may have to click the retailers at the side to get it that cheap though
Hi Alan.
No problem – it was tricky to find!
Screamadelica https://amzn.to/2ZVx4h5
Cheers – managed to snaffle it before the price went up!
The Velvet Underground & Nico SDE is down to 44.99€ (About £38.36) on Amazon.de

Prince- 1999 4 vinyl boxset (deluxe edition) £48.15.
The latest Kinks boxset also down to just over £58.
Happy shopping!
Hi Paul. Amazing work with Howard Jones deal. At 40-odd quid a bit steep, at £22 a no-brainer! Ordered. Thank you.
Howard Jones One To One new 3cd+dvd now on sale for £22 on Amazon UK on pre-order. Release January 31st.
https://amzn.to/2tv9c8a
Thanks!! Amazing price :)
One to One is the price it should have been originally, though oddly now slightly cheaper than Cherry Red which launched it at £23. amazons pricing has been well high recently, Hojo, Neneh and Kim Wilde are examples of what happens when you have no competition, perhaps they finally looked at Cherry Red’s site!
Thx Paul. Amazing price and site!
Fafed about and missed the prev deal over the Keith Richards – So jumped back in this time and Stevie Nicks Belladonna too (Both nice for the car as I tend to focus more on vinyl) – As always thanks for the heads up
Keith Richards deluxe at £5 has been in and out of stock a few times over the past few days – and is in stock again today at £5 at time of posting – so the offer which started on Xmas Eve is still “on”, you just need to be lucky.
Paul McCartney cds are not 5.99 but £ 20+ you have have to click on the buying option link to check the the different prices
Jim, you do understand you’ve missed the deal, not that the post is ‘wrong’? (I will now update).
Still £5.99 on HMV.com if in UK
And £4.99 at the till in-store if you buy anything else!
Just realised that with p&p it’s about £5.99. Still not bad for a 3 CD set.
Found some bargains in unexpected places this weekend… was looking at hi fi gear in Richer Sounds in Belfast and they had a wall rack of vinyl at incredible prices.
Most of the (non core) Pink Floyd catalogue was £11.99 – Meddle, Animals, Saucerful, Final Cut. Division Bell was £17.99 and even the new Later Years 2 LP was £24.99.
There was a whole range of other albums… hard to remember but… Talking Heads Fear of Music was I think £9.99 or £11.99, Waterboys Fisherman’s blues was £12.99, Fleetwood Mac Tusk on silver vinyl £16.99. Basically most single albums were £9.99 to £12.99 and doubles were £14.99 – £17.99
$295 for The Weaker Years Box Set! I would not purchase this if it were $150. Although others may disagree, Animals was the last great Floyd album. I can listen to anything prior to The Wall hundreds of times but either because I heard many cuts from the Wall on radio, when it was released and even today, too many times or for some other reason, I still can’t enjoy that album the way I do it’s predecessors. Maybe because it just has too much Roger on it. Regarding the post Roger albums, which comprise this set, they are just not that great. David is an amazing musician, but the music that comprises this set is anywhere from just ok to very weak. This would be a dust collector on my shelf.
I personally think “The Final Cut” is the last great Floyd album, and a great album it is to.
The deluxe 3 CD edition of Donna Summer’s The Ultimate Collection now just £4.73 at Amazon UK.
The 2 disc edition of Keith Richard’s Talk Is Cheap album is back down to £5 on Amazon UK too. Just ordered it having narrowly missed out before. Also Stevie Nicks’ Belladonna – thanks Paul.
I’m going to go for the Depeche Mode box. I’ve known about them for 40 years but as a casual fan the only releases of theirs that I have to date are singles collections and live albums. I never bothered buying their full albums so now I can get them all with this set.
It seems The Velvet Underground 6-CD super deluxe wasn’t available at that price for much time. Since I checked yesterday it has been€63. Too bad, that was a deal!
Ordered the Jean Michel Jarre trilogy from Amazon France on Sat, delivered on Sunday! Hows that happen so quick? Fab
With regards to Alphaville, that’s a damn good price considering hmv are asking 25smackets
Hmv and fopp are charging ridiculously inflated prices for a lot of items at the moment, either they are trying to implode the business or the business is already on the way out and they’re hoping to fleece as many consumers as possible for the momemt
Still too dear for the Floyd at that Paul but thanks anyway.
Macca’s Egypt Station Explorer’s Edition very reasonable on Amazon UK at the minute.
https://amzn.to/2QQaeU2
Thanks a great price for that. Cheers Mark.
Hey Mark, just want to thank you on your heads up regarding the “Edgar Allan Poe”-box by Alan Parsons Project some weeks ago.
Had my doubts if Amazon woukd honour the price but it showed up the other week and is therefore one of the best deals i bagged in 2019.
Wow, Egypt Station and Stevie Nicks, a total of 5 discs for £14 including shipping to NYC. Thanks Paul & Mark!!
Doesnt the US make you pay their VAT though if the UK deducts it from the price? Some countries have a threshhold for that but im sure an amount as big as the Pink Floyd bock it’s over the threshhold. Can a Yank advise?
The US doesn’t have VAT, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’ve been ordering from Amazon.uk for over a decade and they always remove the VAT when you check out.
I don’t know who the DM set appeals to… completists?
If you’re a fan you have all this stuff again ad again
If you have all the SACD/DVD 2 disc sets and all 6 CD box sets and all the new output… is there anything new?
The only two new-to-CD tracks on MODE are the Flexi-Pop version of “I Sometimes Wish I Was Dead,” and “Heroes (Highline Session Version)” which is only otherwise available streaming on YouTube. Almost nothing for the longtime fan except maybe the book.
Got PF’s box even cheaper at Amazon France. It was 300€+ shipping=324€. Now it is still 315€.
RE: PF “TLY” SDE BOXSET
I just knew this would get below $300! May hold out for an Amazon.com drop, though, soon?! I can feel it coming, kinda – maybe…
Decisions, decisions…
Regardless, nice surprise this a.m.
Tx, Paul!
I bought TLY Box at the netherland site Dodax.nl for 251€ incl. shipping (just EU). Which is the cheapest price I have seen anywhere.
I also bought the 3CD/BluRay “In the court…” of King Crimson for 25,89€ (which is also a good price).
All.works percfect.
@Juerie:
Thanks for the heads up on the King Crimson-set. Used Dodax.nl before and ordered the CD-set of Prince’s 1999 for about 55 EUR last friday from them but haven’t thought of looking up the Crimson-sets there. Even cheaper is the former 4-CD-tourbox “Uncertain Times” for just below 20 EUR and the SDEs of the 40th anniversary series for really good prices (e.g. the “Heaven And Earth”-box for about 120 EUR).
Ref the Floyd thanks Paul but still too expensive for complete rubbish .
Right now the 4CD : R.E.M. – Automatic For The People 25th Anniversary is less than 27 Euro in Amazon.it.I think that this is the cheapest price right now !
26 euros now for REM automatic deluxe
https://amzn.to/2sF1fxb
I am in the US and purchase from Amazon UK. The customer service by e-mail is terrific. The shipping costs are low. The downside is some items like the Depeche Mode Spirit sale has in red letters “This item does not ship to the United States” on the web page. I have about eight items I keep in browsing history that will never get shipped to the US. I have been wanting to purchase the McVicar soundtrack for years.
Charlie – I’ve purchased several items from Amazon UK that had the “does not ship to the United States” note and they did, in fact, ship them to me! Not really sure why or how it works, but you might give it a try. Worst case scenario they will email you and cancel the order.
Shawn:
I e-mailed Amazon UK and asked politely if I could order the cd’s but they said no. The rep advised me to use the other sellers for each individual cd. Amazon UK has been good to me over the years so I wanted to ask first. Thanks for replying.
A friend of mine here in UK used a service in the US where you could ship stuff to a PO Box and at an agreed frequency would package and ship them to the UK. I think he did it to work round the issue you refer to for goods coming the other way. Not sure if there’s a service that could do a similar for U.K.-US? Might be worth investigating.
(Not exactly sure how it worked with customs or import fees, another thing you’d need to check)
Bought the The Velvet Underground and Amazon Germany gave me 30 days free Prime, so free postage and delivery tomorrow :-)
At £6.99 the 3 cd set of Stevie Nicks’s Bella Donna may be the better buy?
https://amzn.to/2QQyTb0
Thanks! Swooped up!
If we could get the Responses sorted according to posting time, I think it would be helpful.
Bad Company timing again – the set actually went On Sale a full week before Christmas, on 18 Dec. I didn’t check my mail until 3 PM EST. The seller ended the deal and jacked the price up to 8.74 gbp 45 min. ago.
It is still on sale for 9.35 euros in Amazon.fr.
I pre-ordered the Supergrass box set 2 weeks ago at Fnac.com (same price €139). I think Amazon FR just matched the Fnac price.
When it comes to new box sets, Fnac usually have competitive prices. It was the same for Go Betweens and Origin of Muse (€125).
By time you pay import tax on the depeche mode MODE boxset including p&p it comes to just over £140 still a great deal though.
Yes, and £5 shipping to the UK (within that £140) is ridiculously cheap!
Seeing this lot was posted up today..the Bad Company deal didn’t last long back up to over £13 pound
Hello and question for anyone reading this, as a US customer with Amazon am I missing something on getting in on these UK/European deals? Is there steps to find comparable offers available to US customers, or maybe account/link settings I need to change to get in on some of these deals? Feeling foolish to ask but any info to help will be much appreciated!!
Hi Brad, you can use your Amazon.com credentials to log in to Amazon UK and purchase (almost) anything you want. UK tax (VAT) at 20% is also normally deducted, which often makes this UK deals even better to those outside the EU. If you have Prime, that doesn’t work outside your ‘home’ country, so no free shipping, but many US readers have said that shipping to US from UK is normally very cheap. Hope that helps.
I am in California and order all the time from Amazon UK. It’s as Paul states. Shipping is also ridiculously cheap – £3.08 (about $4) for a single item be it a cardboard CD single or a CD boxed set with heavy book (e.g. Kraftwerk 3-D or Beatles album super deluxe sets). It is usually far cheaper to import from Amazon UK than to buy on amazon.com and shipping is about the same for an item. I hate to say it but often it is cheaper for a US customer to buy from Amazon UK than a UK resident because they deduct the VAT which is more than the postage on larger items. Also, I have never had any import taxes, duties, or fees levied.
Derek, I agree. I’m in NYC. The only thing that is working against us right now is the exchange rate. The Pound has gone up recently so things got a bit more expensive. But Amazon UK is very cheap in general and if you then minus the VAT and pay very little shipping, it’s a no brainer. Since last year the Trump administration made Amazon USA charge it’s customers local taxes so we avoid that too.
Derek – although up until recently amazon.co.uk charged North Americans (or at least Canadians and as you are in California, Americans as well) £3.08 for shipping one item, it has now more than doubled, to £7.68. That has to be taken into consideration for any North American wanting to purchase with amazon.co.uk.
Well, the price for US customers on Amazon UK is the same as for UK/European customers. You just have to pay more for shipping.
BUT, if I’m correct, you should be able to get them without having to pay UK VAT so that means 20% off.
Which, in mnany cases, means you can get an even better deal than UK/Europe customers.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201895760
But why don’t you just log in, set your US shipping address, drop something in your basket on and continue your order to the last step?
That’s how I always check to make sure how much an order will cost me on Amazon US. You always know the final price before actually placing the order.
OK glad to hear it’s that easy, I’ll give it a try and thanks everyone who helped with my question (or should I be nervous because I’ll probably start spending even more money…)!
Brad
Barnes and Noble are doing a 50% off “select” vinyl sale in the US. I got Kate Bush’s “Before the dawn” and Joe Strummer’s “101” box sets for $30 each! Also got some great albums by Bruce Springsteen, The Cars, Peter Gabriel, Isaac Hayes, Eurythmics, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Roy Orbison, Sting, Rush, Johnny Marr, Beastie Boys, Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, Siouxsie & The Banshees etc… I think I’ve done well!
Any link? Such a terrible site!
It’s a store only sale. They should have a display in store but there are plenty of things in the warehouse that are on sale that aren’t in a lot of the stores. I would suggest going in with a list of artists you are interested in and ask an employee to look them up to see what the prices are. I’ve heard some stores have a great selection whilst others don’t have too many records but you can order anything they have in the warehouse or they can possibly manifest a vinyl from another store.
Yeah that Depeche Mode box is cheap but I just can’t find a reason to buy it, no matter how hard I try. And that says a lot because I’ll buy any deal alert if it is remotely interesting. There is nothing new in this box. It’s only interesting for if you are new to Depeche Mode. I wouldn’t be surprised if this box gets even cheaper down the road. Whoever put this box together should be ashamed. It was rightfully mentioned by Paul under “Disappointments of 2019.”
To be honest, I feel completely different about the DM box set. I’m a huge fan and have all their albums and singles and remixes on vinyl and cd. If they’d released this set with some new unreleased extras I have been really ticked off at having to buy it for those extras.
If you’re new to the band then its a great way in.
If you’re not, save your cash for the live in Berlin release or the next 12” boxes.
As a casual Supergrass fan Im a bit comprehensive about buying a 19 disc box but at this price, ok fine. It may be sitting on a shelf for a while though. Thanks for the heads up Paul.
By the way, the Prince 1999 5cd/DVD box is officially sold out in the Prince web store and Amazon USA. I hope they will print more? They would have to right?
I think Paul indicated upon it’s release the Prince 1999 Super Deluxe sets would only get one print run unless he heard WB had a change of heart.
I think Paul was reffering to the vinylbox.
Yes that was the big vinyl box. No word yet on the CD box. On Amazon.com the lowest price is now $130 from a market seller. The European Amazons seem to have it in stock but only a few of the market sellers have it and the ones that do ask high prices as opposed to the usually lower prices than Amazon. This points to low stock and it being sold out. Question is, will they print more?
Three hours after receiving this alert, the Bad Company is apparently gone. The cheapest 3rd party seller currently is £8.74…
Lose the vinyl and cut the price accordingly and I’d be all over a CD only Supergrass set. As is? Not so much.
if I preorder from amazon USA is it the same as uk where they won’t take the money until a few days before the item is shipped ?
Yes
First time ordering from Amazon France. Had to at that price for the Supergrass. Cheers
It would be lovely if Supergrass could tell us what’s actually in the box set. Three weeks until it comes out and nothing so far.
Ridiculous innit? Even the reviewers know – it gets prominent write-ups in Uncut and Mojo this month.
Kinks “Authur” box set on Amazon US is about $74 via Prime. It said expected to ship about Feb. 6th. Up until yesterday was only available through 3rd parties at about $112 + shipping. Ordered!
Interesting that I wasn’t charged vat on the supergrass set from France.
Brexit stuff already? Will it sit at customs or come straight through?
Or is it something else?
That’s a good point I wonder how this will affect such purchases in the future?, any thoughts Paul?. I wonder if it will be like the USA purchases with the dreaded Royal Mail charge on top ?.
Apparently we in the UK will pay customs and Royal Mail charges after leaving the EU much like we do when buying from the states
Yes, but I think it will be quite a while until that kicks in (pretty sure nothing will happen this year) and it remains to be seen what levels are applied to what categories.
Interesting to note that The Velvet Underground And Nico SDE is also at a very good price from Amazon Germany!
I would have bit their hand off for the boxset (I’m off to see them in Dublin next month) but for those picture discs.
Exactly my thoughts.
They should have been splatter vinyl in feb same colours as the covers.
Good shout on Supergrass. I had this on pre-order from Germany but this is another ten euros cheaper!!
I thought the Bad Company Straight Shooter was the real deal until the shipping costs came up – £3 as it is a marketplace seller : It is still cheaper than the Amazon “direct” price.
