If anybody is Aus, is interested in the Verve “Urbam Hyms” CD & DVD deluxe box set. It is only $27.99 on Amazon Australia.
https://www.amazon.com.au/URBAN-HYMNS-DELUXE-VERVE/dp/B071K15276
The Isaac Hayes box The Spirit Of Memphis dropped to £24.99 for about 5 minutes, glad I caught it in time,
Odd, but US Amazon does not offer the Rush box but they do offer separately the 3 CD’s, the vinyl and the blu-ray. Altogether $108 USD. And all Prime shipping.
Beware, the stand alone blu-ray for AFtK is the 2011 version that came with the Sector 2 set and which is apparently quite inferior to the 2017 Steve Wilson 5.1 mix. I don’t think the 4 vinyl records or CDs are available separately anymore though they were released at the time. The listings for this album on Amazon are confusing and mix the Deluxe set with past vinyl and blu-ray releases.
Amazon.com does offer the AFTK box set but it’s very hard to find because someone listed it with a font that isn’t searchable !!
Last time I checked it the price was North of $200.
Nope. The Rush is still double what I want to pay for it. Chuck in the Hemispheres box too, and I’ll buy!
I am not going to encourage Universal to think these sets sell well by buying one. There is so much in this set I don’t want or don’t need (vinyl, vinyl mat, king ring in velvet pouch) that no price justifies the space it would take up on my shelves. I was very happy with the CD+Blu-ray released of 2112 and Moving Pictures.
Two other points I want to make:
Wish I knew what percentage of music listeners have a CD player and turntable versus no turntable.
For both AFtK and Hemispheres, did Universal miss substantial sales by not releasing a CD+Blu-ray or 2CD + Blu-ray format for those of us who are not buying vinyl?
No matter how low the price goes I am skipping this. There is so much wrong with the way Universal have changed their Rush campaign. How many people are they pleasing versus ticking off with these overblown, boxed sets? Having purchased the Sector sets, I still gladly bought the CD+Blu-ray sets of 2112 and Moving Pictures and would have purchased such sets for AFtK and Hemispheres. I was hoping to hear the Steve Wilson 5.1 mix of AFtK, but Universal want me to buy four prices of vinyl I won’t ever play, a turntable mat that I will never have any use for, a ring in a velvet bag I have no need for, all in a big box, I don’t want to create space for. And how many people who want the vinyl can’t play the Blu-ray or don’t have a 5.1 system to experience the multi-channel mix? In comparison, the Beatles Super Deluxe issues have been almost perfect keeping digital and analog separate and focusing on the music that was produced at the time the albums were made.
Sorry for sounding like a skipping CD.
The Rush box was hard to find in the US a couple of weeks ago. And no deals to be found! I paid $150 and received it last week. So, if you are in the market, GRAB THIS. :) I wish I had waited a little longer for this deal.
I must say I’m tempted by that Supertramp picture disc!
It looks great but sounds pretty bad compared to the black vinyl.
In the USA Walmart has some really good prices. 2112 3 cd for $7.99 or Hemispheres 40th on vinyl for $33 & Rush 1st album Rediscovered set for $29. Free shipping on orders over $35.

New Specials 2cd only £4.99 Amazon uk for prime customers.
Nice spot Tommy! That price worked for me in U.S. for others interested in the deal.

Lisa Stanfield changed quickly :( never mind
Lisa Stansfield deal lasted all of 30 minutes! :(
(sorry, it was 25 minutes, not a minute after receiving the email)
How long did that Lisa Stansfield box set deal last? I clicked on the link within a minute of receiving the email and it was back at £42.51, The Deluxe CD for £2.99 is still there so I got that!
Damn ….. Stansfield set gonevin under 15 minutes?
Didn’t last long, Stansfield is now £42.51.
I said ‘be quick’ :)
It (literally) pays to listen to what the man said. He said…
You win some, you lose some. Now on to the next one!
If you like Woodface go listen to the Finn Brothers album recorded a few yers later.
The songs on that are right up there with the songs Tim and Neil wrote together for Woodface.
Bought the ‘Space Oddity’ album and The Man Who Sold The World reissues last week from Amazon fr, for £14 each, inc. postage to the UK. It pays to be patient and search around, just occasionally, you’ll get a half decent price.
Hi Paul
Re the news on the George Michael website. It looks like they are going to release Cover to Cover audio at least. Five Live may also be included. I hope the song Tonight as well. Looks like the estate is releasing the solo work in order.
Cheers
Thanks, just ordered the Bowie album from amazon.us, cheap as chips, only £15.54 Inc. shipping to UK
Van Morrison’s Prophet Speaks on vinyl at £14.
Queen – The Miracle half speed remastered black vinyl. Well worth the £13.99 currently @ Amazon UK.
Good deal (I’ve added) although I didn’t think this was a half-speed?
It’s presumably the standalone issue that followed the box set (albeit on black vinyl, instead of green), so should be the 1/2 Speed Abbey Road MILES master.
Yes – all the current wave of Queen reissues are 1/2 speed.
Sticker on the sleeve confirms it
Paul, I didn’t until it arrived but it is according to the sticker on the front.
Thanks.
Possibly the most creepy album cover ever.
Everyone knows that the Crowdies best album is Temple of Low Men.
There, I took the bait!
First album good too. Natural migration from the Split Enz era (I Walk Away recorded by both bands)
Woodface had the commercial chart-friendly stuff and consequently more airplay and more sales. That said having Tim back on board was very welcome, one bass player short of a full Enz reunion !
Together Alone is a fine album but still doesn’t top the first two for me
As good as Crowded House is/was, the first Finn album and Try Whistling This are my fave Finn family albums, maybe followed closely by Time and Tide by Split Enz. But really I think we can all agree there’s some magic flowing in those Finn bloodlines because I can’t think of a single album from that family that has been actively bad.
Try Whistling This is possible the only Finn long-player I simply can’t get into. I thought One Nil was far better. I agree the first Finn album was brilliant.
I love that album Paul, Last Day of June was one of my highlights of any track released in the 90’s.
