Faces / You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything 1970-1975
Rhino will release a You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything 1970-1975 next month, a new five-CD box set that collects newly remastered versions of the Faces’ four studio albums, complete with previously unreleased bonus tracks.
The set includes The First Step (1970), Long Player (1971), A Nod Is as Good as a Wink…to a Blind Horse (1971), and Ooh La La (1973), and the unreleased bonus tracks include outtakes, BBC sessions, live performances and rehearsals.
Even better, a fifth bonus disc gathers up nine essentials tracks that didn’t appear on proper albums, including the 1973 single Pool Hall Richard, a live performance of the Temptations’ I Wish It Would Rain (from the 1973 Reading Festival) and the studio version of their cover of Paul McCartney’s Maybe I’m Amazed.
A five-LP vinyl version of this box set will also be available.
You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything 1970-1975 is released on 28 August 2015.

NO PRE ORDER FOR US DOWN HERE IN AUSTRALIA…..
With above info have pre ordered – Declined the SF box set as I already splashed out on individual expanded remasters – Not worth getting just for expanded BBC stuff imo
I am looking forward to getting this set alongside the small faces decca years set
Do the vinyl re-issues have the bonus tracks on a second disc? They wouldn’t be able to get all that on one disc and it still sound good.
This is not clear. The vinyl if only 5LPs will surely *just* be the standard albums plus the rarities LP. Perhaps you get the CD bonus tracks via download? Will try and find out.
Based on the pictures released so far it doesn’t look like the set comes with a booklet or liner notes? No information on the set (other than the track listing) on the Amazon UK site.
FYI
There are also a few BBC tracks on the Rod Stewart Rarities 2 cd set from a few years ago.
Based upon the track listing, these bonus tracks might be previously released.
Miss Judy’s Farm (BBC Session)
Stay With Me (BBC Session)
These are previously released.
Too Much Woman (For A Henpecked Man) [Live – Fillmore East, New York 11/10/70]
Love In Vain (Live – Fillmore East, New York 11/10/70)
John
I agree. On which recording did you find the fillmore tracks? I seem to remember a vinyl record with various artists that had some faces stuff
Thanx
J
The 2 cd Stay With Me Faces Anthology along with the live version of Gasoline Alley.
It looks like the only tracks omitted from the old tentative track listing are
Gasoline Alley (live at the Fillmore East) – This was eventually released on the Stay With Me Anthology
It’s All Over Now (Live BBC)
True Blue (Live in Pocono PA)
Good stuff. I have not played my 1990s CDs for a while but I’m gonna get them out. I have been playing a lot of early Rod recently.
There are only 2 bonus tracks on Nod, not 4
From IORR: The eagerly awaited Faces CD re-issues contain many previously un-released tracks not featured on the ‘Five Guys Walk Into A Bar…’ box set.

Behind The Sun (Outtake)
The Mona (Outtake)

Looks very tasty indeed ! Wonder if they are the infamous remasters touted a coupla years back but mysteriously never appearing ?!
Paul
who knows. I think that this is the same stuff from Germany that was supposed to released in 2007. Oddly all of the bonus material on this set is pretty much identical to the proposed German remasters. To wit:
11.Behind The Sun (Outtake) (Bonus Track)
12.The Mona (Outtake) (Bonus Track)
13.Shake, Shudder, Shiver (BBC John Peel Session) (Bonus Track)
14.Flying (Alternate Take 3) (Bonus Track)
10.Whole Lotta Lovin‘ (Outtake) (Bonus Track)
11.Tell Everyone (Alternate Take 1) (Bonus Track)
12.Sham-Mozzal (Instrumental (Outtake) (Bonus Track)
13.Gasoline Alley (Live at Fillmore East) (Bonus Track)
10.Miss Judy‘s Farm (BBC John Peel Session) (Bonus Track)
11.Stay With (BBC John Peel Session) (Bonus Track)
12.It‘s All Over Now (BBC John Peel Session) (Bonus Track)
13.True Blue (Never Been A Millionaire) (Live in Pocono, PA) (Bonus Track)
11.Cindy Incidentally (BBC Session) (Bonus Track)
12.Borstal Boys (Rehearsal) (Bonus Track)
13.Silicone Grown (Rehearsal) (Bonus Track)
14.Jealous Guy (Live at Reading Festival) (Bonus Track)
So I think that this is the stuff that has been lying in the Can since 2007 and someone finally found it. It is sad this set does not include snakes & ladders & Coast to Coast which is my fave Faces platter (which says more about me than it does the Faces)

I just compared it go 5 guys and hear is rundown
Bad news first: All of CD 5 , Miss Judy’s Farm & Flangs and Banners are on both sets

James,
Is there anything that’s still exclusive to the 5 Guys set?
Wayne
Yes. A bunch actually
BBC: Maggie May, Maybe I’m Amazed, Your my Girl, Bad N Ruin, Cut Across Shorty, Losing You, Angel, Stay With Me, The Stealer, Around the Plynth & flying.
Also other live or rehearsal: I Came looking for you, Take A Look @ that guy, I’d Rather Go Blind, Too Bad, I wish it would rain & I feel so good.
The Faces were broadcast at least 6 times on BBC & it included 20 songs total
The dates were
03/15/70
03/28/70
09/01/70
09/18/70
05/05/71
10/06/71
There are known to be mountains of live shows never released since the band had the choice of bubbly or sound boards each night. It is rumored that MAC kept his sound boards.
Hope this helps

Nice. But isn’t Flags and Banners on the first side of Ooh La La (it is on my LP)?
Have ordered LP box through amazon.it, thanks to Paul’s tip off!
Off topic from the Faces, but sticking with another great British band beginning with F, i.e. Free.
Is there ever going to be a Free vinyl box set?
After Universal/ Island did Spooky Tooth, surely they could do Free now?
A band that have no current re-releases on vinyl, sadly neglected.
They have had a Free Complete Island Years box set planned for a few years but Paul Rodgers has nixed it’s release.
Thanks John, didn’t know that.
Wish he would change his mind.
This set looks great and has been promptly ordered. Maybe a BBC CD/DVD, or just a live box set with DVD if this sells enough…..
It would be nice!
So, if I get this box and Overture and Beginners (added to the Five Guys box, which I already have) will I have everything that has been officially released?
Yes apart from ‘Best ofs’ etc Good Luck finding Overtures on CD ! I was lucky !!
How come they’re not releasing a DVD with this box set? There is tons of great footage of the excellent Faces out there that’s unreleased. The Sounds of Saturday gig from October 1970 comes to mind. What’s up??
Actually it will be available on vinyl for about $135 usd
And still we wait for The Faces at the BBC.
If this set made it on to vinyl, I’d buy this straight away :-)
Don’t have my copy to hand but I wonder how many of the bonus tracks etc were also on the book set: ‘Five guys go into a bar..’ The art work looks like US versions – e.g., Small Faces on the 1st LP instead of Faces. Excellent Japanese reissues faithfully reproduced the UK versions including moveable mouth and eyes on Oh La La.
I think only a couple of the bonus tracks were on the Five Guys set … and a couple of the Fillmore live tracks were on the Stay With Me anthology.
Agreed it’s a shame they couldn’t include a full BBC Sessions disc with this.
It’s the US sleeve for Long Player too.
I’ve no idea why Flags and Banners has been moved from being the third track on Ooh La La to being included as a bonus track. Should be put right before release.
