Oasis / “(Whats The Story) Morning Glory?” box set and reissue details

whats_pack

Oasis will reissue their 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? in September, the second of their ‘Chasing The Sun’ reissues.

As with their debut, this has been remastered and re-packaged and this release includes b-sides, early demos and soundcheck recordings from the Oasis archives. The box set more or less follows the design and content of the Definitely Maybe set. It contains the standard three-CD deluxe edition (see track listing below) plus the following:

  • • Deluxe box with magnetic closure lid
  • • 2LP double vinyl edition
  • • 56 page hard backed coffee table book
  • • Replica 12″ promo (Cum On Feel The Noise/Lynch Mob Beats Remix)
  • • Exclusive 7″ vinyl of Hello (demo)
  • • She’s Electric (demo), replica promo cassette
  • • Exclusive merchandise (i.e. probably badges, key-rings etc.)

The two-LP edition is available separately, along with the three-CD deluxe and a single disc remaster is also available. There are a few exclusives offered via the Oasis online store.

(What’s The Story) Morning Glory? was an enormous success for Oasis in the very heart of the Britpop era, and went on to become the best selling album of the decade, achieving 14 platinum certifications. The album features many singles but Wonderwall is arguably one of the best loved, although ironically this didn’t make it to the top of the charts, peaking at number two in the UK top 40.

(What’s The Story) Morning Glory? is reissued on 29 September 2014.

Oh dear @Paul four spam messages!

[…] Clique aqui para ter mais detalhes e veja abaixo a track list da caixa padrão: […]

Mike

Surprised that no live version of Wonderwall is included, considering that at the time it was played with strings at the larger shows giving a different perspective of the song.

Scott

Japanese Bonus Tracks:

Hello (Demo)

Wonderwall (Live at Knebworth)

James

Must’ve been a challenge to make DM sound worse but Got to hand it to Ian Cooper – he succeeded. Wonder if he’ll rise to the challenge and make WTSMG sound worse and keep it as the most appalling sounding album ever released. Even the SACD sounds bad.

Steve

Got to hand it to mr Cooper, he did indeed manage to make WTSMG sound worse! Louder and more BW’ed. It must be getting to be an art, may have been simpler to make it sound better!

Adey

@andy of course the pirate bay comment was said tongue in cheek BUT i agree in a way with boom-i will probably add the 3cd version to my almost complete oasis collection by buying it BUT at the end of the Day im not naive enough to think these big corporate companies making a vast fortune off us are all good people who never cheat lie or rip people off etc etc. Big companies are the cause of the tearing down of over 80% of the rainforest, causing global warming and ruining the planet for future generations in order to fuel their greed.
Also, a lot of record companies fill their own fatcat wallets and only give a small share to the artists (who themselves arent exactly poor)
The whole world is corrupt

Matthias

Hmm. I’ll stick with the SACD and the 5.1 mix.

Phil

Found out about the SACD edition far too late to buy one at a reasonable price. What is the 5.1 mix like?

fan

got it on internet (sacd to dts-cd conversion) and it’s a completely new listening experience, a lot more room that the stereo version, probably less brickwalled, so more details

Adey

I agree with william- thinking could be pirate bay for this as to avoid giving glitter any royalties from it

Andy

There’s no excuse for downloading illegally off pirate bay … everyone deserves to get paid. If you feel like that why not download all tracks except Hello from iTunes or amazon?

Boom

You need to understand Andy, that all the big corporations and all the people that run your life are self serving manipulators who lie and cheat their way through each and every day so they can remain on top and in control.

Having morals is nice but ultimately you are a sucker if you think everybody is playing a fair game.

Andy

I don’t think everyone is playing a fair game, but having morals is, indeed, nice…

Rab

they already got paid for it years ago

Adey

They could have included step out on disc one i think it sounds much better with that track on it as it was originally intended

Chris Straub

Isn’t every Oasis release unlistenably brickwalled? (I’d love to be proven wrong.)

fan

got all the original cd’s from 94/95…and yes, they were brickwalled on purpose :-) I viewed somewhere on youtube on an interview an engineer say “they wanted real rock, all the red lights on à la Stooges”

Adey

Just heard the champagne supernova remix from this set it sounds nothing like the mix on the original promo 12″ or the 1 track promo cd

William

Gary Glitter will be over the moon at this unexpected revenue stream for himself

Tim

At least the price came down on this box set. The super deluxe edition and a copy of the demo tape was $250 US all in!

eric slangen

The box is 100 pounds on the official website.

Adey

Sorry just read the info above DUH!!! It states lynch mob remix will be included in super deluxe box!!!

Adey

Wonder if hmv will be releasing another one sided 12″ like the columbia one to coincide with this release? (Champagne supernova lynch mob remix?)

Adey

Nice to see a digital version of boneheads bankholiday and the some of the tracks are a welcome addition that will save fans buying expensive japanese cds (some might say demo) orv£100+ for the lynch mob remix promo cd!
I wonder if the super deluxe will be the same kind of rip off as the dm one?
As previously posted, does anyone know if the japan issue will have any exclusive bonus tracks?

Phil Wilson

I am fairly sure that the same guy has mastered this. I bought the Japan issue of DM, which had two bonus tracks on CD1. Anyone know if there are bonus tracks on the japanese issue of this one? It may have been my ears playing tricks, but I think the Japan version may have sounded better?

james

Is this one going to be as unlistenably brickwalled as the DM reissue?

Galley

Looks to be another great release.

DJ Control

I know it will come down a bit in price, but at £132 I think I’ll give it a miss. I’ve got the SACD from a few years back.

Alan Fenwick

The exclusives if you buy from the Oasis store is a 12″ which contains the following tracks:

A) Some Might Say
B) Talk Tonight
C) Acquiesce

Terence Delaney

What is exclusive to Oasis store with this one?
