Pet Shop Boys remix of Paul Weller’s ‘Cosmic Fringes’ emerges
12-minute version by Neil and Chris
When Paul Weller announced his latest album, Fat Pop, he let slip that there was a 12-minute Pet Shop Boys remix of album track ‘Cosmic Fringes’.
That remix will be available on a special limited 12-inch single backed with a further remix by Primal Scream‘s Andrew Innes.
The heavyweight 12-inch black vinyl is release NEXT WEEK and the SDE shop has a small allocation (limited to one per customer). We also have a few copies left of the album on yellow vinyl.

Just for those interested the download included in the vinyl includes the instrumental version of the PSB mix
Fortunately, it’s available from iTunes (and presumably other online outlets as well). Like the PSB mix; the other one is unnecessary.
Available for purchase on Juno: https://www.juno.co.uk/products/paul-weller-cosmic-fringes-remixes/838848-01/
No cd version so you can count me out! (Not that any of Weller’s recent stuff is worth buying anyway)
If none of his recent stuff is worth buying then why wolud you even be considering buying an over priced single!
Any update on the release date for the vinyl remix of Wake Up The Nation, 10th Anniversary?
Just saw this morning that it will be released August 20th.
it says exclusive on thesoundofvinyl – hopefully not. Shipping rates to NZ are not palatable.
Great, another physical product I can’t buy in the Netherlands, f#@k this industrie I stop collecting and will stream it for free.
HMV still has them for pre-order as of now but only ships to UK… :(
Aaargh! I don’t do vinyl and when I read about this on Saturday morning it was sold out anyway…
However, for anybody in the same situation as me – I’ve preordered the iTunes digital version for £2.49 (released 23/7/21).
Yeah, I know… not a physical product…
But at least I’m able to add this to my PSB collection (also helps I really liked the original song!)
Edit to add: Paul, can I request the inclusion of that great interview/article you did about Pet Shop Boys remixes in the next volume of Decade?
I feel exactly the same, why no cd single version?
Not anymore.
Just bought drunkenly … hope it’s good!
For those who have missed out.. HMV if you’re quick!
Still available from Piccadilly Records. For overseas buyers they remove the V.A.T. and the shipping is cheaper than Rough Trade too.
Rough Trade still have it as a pre-order :)
Managed to order one thank goodness. How limited is this?
sister ray records has some copies. I bagged one with 10% first order discount. I have never used them before so I’m hoping they are sound.
Well, they’ve been around a long time. I bought my copy of Japan’s Prophetique box set from them back in 1993 (never did see it at Tower).
I was too late
I’m hoping to get some more next week, although perhaps not too likely given that the Paul Weller store has also sold out…
Find this a strange collaboration. Like Weller. Not a huge PSBs fan. Wish it had been released on CD. I just don’t do vinyl nowadays.
I somehow missed your stock Paul – not quite fast enough.
Managed to grab one from the Paul Weller store though I have found their service a bit hit and miss.
By the way Paul – do you have any idea what has happened to the vinyl version of the updated Wake Up the Nation album?
Hoping to maybe get some more next week, although not sure if that’s going to be possible. Not sure on Wake Up The Nation…
Not for me. Always loved PSB, but never a fan of Weller. What we need is a new PSB album!
This is what I’ve been waiting for, should be insane if nothing else and with their supreme talent at remixing it’ll be the first time ever I’m looking forward to a Weller release (in fact this’ll be the only Paul Weller record that’s likely to join my collection!). All ordered and thanks Paul
I’m excited and am sorely tempted but would love to hear it first. Any ideas on the quality of the PSB remix? Anyone? Cheers.
I”m not expected to be disappointed…
Yeah, fair call :-).
