Simon and Garfunkel / The Concert in Central Park 2LP and CD+DVD

concertincentralpark

Simon and Garfunkel‘s 1981 Concert in Central Park is being released on double 180g vinyl and as a CD+DVD combo pack next month.

The concert drew more than half a million fans to New York’s Central Park and was originally released as a double album for Warner Bros. in February 1982. The recording has been remastered from the original analogue tapes for these new releases.

In fact unlike the vinyl record, the CD+DVD isn’t getting an official release outside the US (perhaps in part because the DVD was included in 2007’s good value The Collection box set). Fans in Europe and elsewhere will need to seek out imports if they are interested.

The Concert in Central Park will be released on 14 August. The Complete Columbia Albums Collection vinyl box is also issued in August. More details on that set here.

  1. If the pre release info posted on the Amazon sites is correct, it’s the “Music On Vinyl” label that is releasing the 2 LP 180g set.

  2. So this bears the question if the Concert in Central Park in last year’s CD box was actually remastered. My ears and the rather criptic credits from that box, told me it was not. So here they are, making us pay once more for something they just sold us last year.

    1. On the current DVD, the sound is totally out of synch with the picture (the laserdisc was fine). I wonder if they fixed that here.
