Taste / I’ll Remember 4CD set

taste_pic

Here’s a picture of I’ll Remember, that Taste four-CD set that we told you about last month. SDE has further details (below) on the collection that is due for release in late August.

The two studio albums (Taste from 1969 and 1970’s On The Boards) are newly remastered and both albums come with previously unreleased bonus tracks including alternate studio recordings as well as audio from the German Beat Club TV show.

The third disc is Live in Stockholm and London containing two unreleased live performances. The Live at Konserthuset element contains two numbers unavailable on any other official Taste album: At The Bottom and Nineteen Year Old.

Belfast Sessions and Demos feature on the final CD. This is a collection of demo recordings made in July 1967 at Belfast’s Maritime Hotel, in the hope of securing the record deal with Decca Records. The final disc also contains Live At Woburn Abbey Festival, Taste’s first British festival appearance in 1968 and one of the final appearances for the original Taste lineup.

I’ll Remember is released on 28 August 2015.

Can’t see any info on price on UK Amazon, but £27.76 on Grooves Inc. Spin CDs has it at £31.99. Hope that is of use to someone.

Jon

According to this month’s Uncut review there will be a CD/DVD set of the Isle of Wight 1970 performance before the end of the year….

Lars

The Woburn Abbey Festival tracks are probably taken from sbd tapes that have been sold at Christie’s a couple of years ago. There has been a number of other artists on them apart from Hendrix on Taste.

Thanks Colin. Taste on DVD will be a dream for me!

Francis

Never heard of them and they never had any UK chart success. LOL

Colin H

…not your Taste then? :-)

In addition to the box set, Taste fans should look out for another archive release later this year. In a different medium.

Francis

Considering they never got in the UK Charts means a lot of others did not know of them. LOL That is a lot of TASTE they were lacking. LOL

Chudbeagle

Chart success does not equal artistic excellence which this band had in spades.

But since you were blatantly wrong…

Both the On the Boards album and Live Taste made the UK Top 20 and Live at the Isle of Wight just missed the UK Top 40.

Now you know.

There is an official Jimi Hendrix Live at Woburn from Dagger Records, a quick internet search and you can find it to buy. It’s pretty good. I didn’t realise there were any other taped performances from the festival. So perhaps alot more was taped and someone has been sitting on the tapes. Very interesting stuff.

First time I have noticed tracks from Woburn Abbey festival. Are there any from anyone else? Supposed I’m just an old fart who wants to relive my youth! Don’t remember too much about it ( too much Watneys Red Barrel ) , but there must be a God Save The Queen from Jimi Hendrix somewhere…
