RSD Discount at Recordstore.co.uk. Enter RSD19 at the checkout to receive 13%, this brings it down to £274.05 + postage Don’t know how long this will last
Actually, it’s just this weekend!
Oh, just saw that in Macca’s recent newsletter ‘What’s That You’re Doing’ (No.2/Vol.7) we are asked
“Earlier this month Paul announced the Egypt Station – Traveller’s Edition, a strictly limited deluxe edition of the #1 album. Let us know if you were one of the lucky few who managed to get hold of one!”
Bluffing? Wishful thinking? Sarcasm?
After being ‘Sold out’, the set is available again via all four links today.
64 sets left
At musicvaultz.com, Canadian price is $459.11 including tax, shipping (Canada) and using VAULTZVIP code. Using code saves $71.70
yes, that’s quite a code discount and even a better deal for US customers, since MusicVaultz has free shipping and charges no sales tax . Savings on the box for a US resident in a state with 10% sales tax is about $100 USD, vs buying via paulmccartney.com.
I assume Get Started, Nothing for Free and Get Enough are download only.
Shame they’re not on the second vinyl.
RSD release maybe.
So much for being sold out. Now available again on Udiscover UK (and probably elsewhere).
Still not taking the plunge
OMG this cost more then my ticket to see Paul in Vancouver in July and I have 3rd row on the floor. I think the original CD release will do me fine.
Paul,
I’ve been loving your site for years now, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen a box set sold on the installment plan. I think it was $30+ a month on Macca’s US site. Have you ever seen this before? Curious to hear what you think. Keep up the great work!
Limited to 3000 copies and you can buy two copies. One for you and one to sell on. Make it one copy only, 30,000 copies and half the price.
Getting tired of the high costs and paucity of musical content of PM’s archive series.
Time for PM to have a look at what Bruce Springsteen is doing if he wants to make money AND please fans.
Time for a ‘Live Archive’ series of downloads and optional physical CD sets for those who want them.
There would be great demand for that!
I knew this was going to be a funny day from 2pm on Friday uk time…especially with the sound of vinyl / universal running that site. Just wait until may when the have way to many orders to fulfill as usual or us Hermes to deliver it. There will be tears.
-1
At this price, one would hope for a 5.1 DVD-A/V disc AND a 4K Blu disc with the aforementioned 5.1, along with a hirez (24/96) ATMOS mix.
Shame.
Very cheesy but then again it is Paul McCartney lol
Love his older work and I just heard this cd, it’s not bad but not spectacular. Sorry Maca but it is kinda childish maybe good for a rich kid
No way. Saving my money for the Beatles 50th Abbey Road super deluxe set!
I could get what, 5 the Clash box sets for the price of one of these? With customs and postage this thing would cost me near 6000 NOK (540 £)
A lot to pay for something that looks like its supposed to keep a toddler entertained on a long flight or something.
Starting to appear on ebay. Offers over £770
Within 5 years people will kill for this edition. it’s that hard
I agree. When The Beatles released Let It Be with a book, back in 1970, we all complained about the high price for a single album with a book, with pages that fell out too easily. Now try and get one. Limiting the release to 3000 copies is a good marketing move. It’s all about Supply and Demand.
Well, if I was ever in any doubt about buying a copy, the shipping charges on the Canadian website to Australia have sealed the deal – just a paltry C$300. I presume Paul will be handing it over to me himself. At least I’ll have someone to play cards with. Might buy four copies. Perhaps I could put them ALL inside one of the trunks, ha ha.
Hm… 3000 X 315 = 945,000.
I guess he had a mortgage payment due.
If even I say no to a box set, it’s gotta be really bad.
Ha, Ditto.
As someone said below, it’s not even a coloured vinyl, just BoG standard (albeit “limited”)
To add to your statement, how bad does something have to be for me to be negative about it, let alone not buy it.
I notice the Musicvaultz site has a 15% off if you sign up to newsletter and use VAULTZVIP code….only thing is it adds another $247 delivery down under…how many levels of ridiculous can be associated this fiasco of a release.
I dunno about this thing…if it were like $100, I’d get it, but this is too much…plus they prob collect upfront, not wait till dispatch in May, so no chance to change my mind if I indeed lose my marbles/puzzle pieces and jump in, haha…great album but I have my limits…am I right with them collecting upfront or is it like Amazon and collect at dispatch??
,, sold out,,
OMG, you bloody fools
Didn’t see that coming, not in a million years
No way is this sold out. Probably “sold out” like the green/yellow vinyl of Pet Sounds sold on release last year, then mysteriously reappeared back in stock, unannounced, a few months later. If something’s labelled “sold out”, people get anxious that they didn’t snap one up, and more gullible when they realise, with relief (!) that they’ve got another chance to snap one up.
I’ll add that if it really is sold out then we should expect another all-new mediocre Macca album within a couple of months, packaged in a cattle feed bucket or something.
I suspect many have been bought with the intention of selling them on, but how anyone will make a profit on an item that’s so overpriced in the first place is beyond me. It’s not even a great album.
I’m still in, but I’m feeling gutted just as you all.
If MPL keeps it that way, I won’t be following blindly much longer, and this will probably be the last time I fall for this kind of…. thing.
The Big Barn Box was expensive, but its content was wonderful and rich.
The Electric Arguments metal box was indeed accessible joy.
Here, this is almost a joke.
Get back to more reasonable Deluxe boxes, MPL, please :)
No t-shirt only available in one size fits some then shrinks the first time it’s washed?
Way too overpriced by 3x.
I could go to Egypt for that money!
Macca has clearly lost the plot. It scares me the price he will be asking for the next Archive Collection release. p.s. still can’t obtain Red Rose Speedway 2cd in Australia (unless get it imported)!
Buyer’s remorse is the sense of regret after having made a purchase. It is frequently associated with the purchase of an expensive item such as a vehicle or real estate ……. or Egypt Station Travellers Edition.
Thanks for the info Paul…I’ll pass and wait for the let it be box sets!
By far the worse package that McCartney has ever put out! Certainly not worth the ridiculous price of £315! I am a huge McCartney fan, and have most of the earlier deluxe editions which are great, but this is a stage too far, and somewhat of an insult to his fans! Very disappointing!
Well my understanding for knick knacks in these cases genuinely have to do with having to compete with bootleggers…so, um, yeah.
I´m a big fan of Macca but this is just ridiculous… and even more that the German links for Bravado and uDiscover already report: SOLD OUT!
This is great, but I’m going to wait until the Back To The Egg 40th anniversary Chicken Farm
$360.00 US? I don’t think so.
What the f-ing f does Mr McCartney think he’s doing? Is he short of a few quid or something?
I can’t believe anyone from this parish would even consider buying this, let alone actually spend their hard earned won a on it!
If all money raised went to a specific charity I could understand it, but this seems like a cynical money grabbing ploy to exploit the biggest fans.
Sorry Sir Paul this is so far into not a good idea territory that I honestly don’t understand where this is coming from.
It’s three times the price of the excellent Kinks Village Green box set FFS.
Until yesterday I thought I would totally buy one.
After seen what’s inside, it’s no no no no.
Playing cards… jigsaw puzzles… what about the MUSIC?!? Isn’t that what the loyal fan wants and not all this useless tat?! What about all the unreleased outtakes from the ES sessions? How about the full Abbey Road performance on CD and/or blu ray? (Oh wait, those will be separate releases). I’m sick of getting royally ripped off by this stuff. I’m still smarting over the Flowers In The Dirt low-res downloads. No, thank you!
While the FITD download issue was annoying, they weren’t low quality. I would hardly call CD quality low.
I don’t have a cassette player or record player plus this was a terrible album. If he were giving them away I wouldn’t cross the street to get one.
I’d say the actual music contents would be worth £70.00.
Double Vinyl – £30.00
Single Vinyl – £20.00
Cassette – £10.00
CD – £10.00
Most downloads come free anyway with the above.
So you have to ask yourself is the rest worth – £245.00
Bearing in mind most buyers if not all will already own the vinyl and CD anyway.
I think I’ve talked myself out of it before I do my usual “you only live once” routine.
Barely any new content & a lot of old tat. A bargin!! I don’t think I’ve seen such outright exploitation of fans in a long time.
£316 for 26 tracks… that’s over £12 a song…The new 3 Disc Deluxe White Album is £15… but we all have free will
if the suitcase editions continue … maybe there will be a limited luggage rack
Pass
No deal!
Vintage style suitcase? Printed cardboard more like. I’m all for deluxe boxes but this one looks like shocking value for new actual music content. G n R locked and loaded by comparison doesn’t seem too bad now!
H-h-h-h-how much?! :-O
Didn’t ever get an email for links so thanks Paul for providing them here! :-)
Just ordered, but I’m not happy with it. Too much expensive, really.
Why on earth did you order this? Too much spare cash?
Can’t understand why you’re saying this. If you’re not happy, cancel the order
Ordered. *SIGH*
Exactly my thought. :)
Why, Lee, WHY?
I know, right? $hit.
This has to be the most ridiculous SDE set EVER ? No DBD/BD or Book, just a bunch of useless trinklets ? I can’t see anyone buying this without a sealed resale in mind…
So expensive it even has it’s own hire purchase scheme on his site! Pass!
I know, right? I had a chuckle when I saw that. I’m thinking it may be more expedient to talk to my bank about a small loan to finance the purchase.
I bought one for $477CDN ….love to know the US$ and GBP price.
Free shipping
GBP price is £315 and USA price is $360.
Out of curiosity – Are you taking the plunge Paul?
Sitting this one out, despite being a massive McCartney collector/fan… My Fireman metal box was only about £65, although that was 10 years ago.
Paul, any idea what the rare hidden performances are ?
No idea… and we also don’t know *how* those bonus songs are going to be delivered.
The Fireman metal box is a thing of beauty. First of all, great album, and I don’t think it’s a controversial opinion that it’s better than Egypt Station. Loads of great exclusive remixes, hi-res stereo (and some videos) on the DVD, a gorgeous gatefold 2LP, and the stems for five of the songs on a DVD-Data disc so you could make your own remixes.
And I paid around $70 for it at the time. Very reasonable.
There was six months of tedious delays but those were the days (pre-social media) where it did feel slightly exclusive and things weren’t hyped to heaven.
£105 per new track! I am officially retiring as a Paul McCartney completist!
German site Bravado has already sold out, did anyone catch the EUR price there? Same as 360 eur directly from Macca site. Searching from Web cache lead to nothing.
After all the best solo album he ever has made, incl. Tug of War.
“After all the best solo album he ever has made”–What?!
US price is $396 after tax and shipping
