Out This Week / on 2nd Dec 2016
The Rolling Stones / Blue & Lonesome
The Rolling Stones go back to their blues roots for their first studio album in over a decade.
Jean-Michel Jarre / Oxygene 3
40 years after the original album, Jean-Michel Jarre celebrates the anniversary with Oxygene 3 and a ‘trilogy’ box set.
The Alan Parsons Project / Tales of Mystery and Imagination (box set)
40th anniversary of the 1976 Alan Parsons Project album features a half-speed mastered double vinyl cut at 45RPM, a 5.1 surround sound mix on blu-ray audio, three CDs and a book.
Elvis Presley / The Wonder Of You
The follow up to last year’s mega-selling If I Can Dream Elvis release is issued on vinyl and in this deluxe box set.
Beck / Odelay (vinyl reissue)
Beck‘s 1996 ‘sophomore’ release on a major label was both critically acclaimed and packed with hits. Bong Load issued a limited (2016 units) coloured pressing earlier on this year but this is a Universal/Interscope edition on black vinyl. Other titles issued too.
Mother Love Bone / On Earth As It Is – The Complete Works (box set)
This ‘Complete Works’ of late ’80s Seattle band Mother Love Bone is a 3CD+DVD set and features the Shine EP and the Apple album remastered, along with 20 rare recordings. The VHS-only Love Bone Earth Affair also makes it to DVD as part of this set. A 3LP vinyl version is also available.
- • UK Order: …The Complete Works (3CD+DVD)
- • USA Order: …The Complete Works (3CD+DVD)
- • GERMANY Order: …The Complete Works (3CD+DVD)
Bob Dylan / The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert
This CD and double vinyl release of Bob Dylan‘s actual Royal Albert Hall concert from ’66 was delayed and is now issued this Friday.
Angelo Badalamenti / Twin Peaks Soundtrack (coloured vinyl)
I bought this ‘coffee coloured’ vinyl pressing of Angelo Badalamenti‘s wonderful music for Twin Peaks back in August. It’s re-available again at a cheaper price and is a wonderful. Recommended.
Massive Attack / vinyl reissues
Massive Attack‘s 1991 album Blue Lines is reissued on vinyl using the 2012 remaster. Protection and No Protection are also reissued on the same format.
Diana Ross / Diana (clear vinyl)
Diana Ross‘ 1980, chic-produced album features I’m Coming Out and Upside Down and is reissued on clear vinyl with OBI-strip and original packaging replicated.
Altered Images / Happy Birthday (LP+7″)
Altered Images‘ debut album is remastered and pressed on 180g vinyl and comes with a bonus red seven-inch vinyl of the Steve Severin produced single Dead Pop Stars and its accompanying b-side Sentimental. Great value.

Various Artists / The Christmas Album (vinyl only)
UB40, or make that “UB40 featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey” (the band have split), have recently released this acoustic album. For some reason Amazon UK have THREE listings for this CD and the cheapest (at only £5.99) also includes a bonus disc of original hits. Go figure.
Basia / The Sweetest Illusion (3CD)
This generous triple-disc deluxe edition of Basia‘s third album (originally issued in 1994) comes with all the remixes and a bonus disc of instrumentals.
MLB’s DVD also includes the audio only to s show. Not listed on the outside but in the booklet – but hidden on the DVD.
Lady Godiva Blues (7 Inch Edit) off the debut album’s remaster a few years back isn’t in this collection. So not really “Complete”.
Is there any hope of getting the UB40 Present Arms and Labour of Love deluxe editions? After long delay they were scarcely available this past spring. Will these get a proper release?
The Rolling Stones album pressed on two LP’s hopefully means better sound, if the tracks are basically spread out across each side to fill them up more. For example, this can help avoid sounds “bleeding” in to neighbouring tracks and/or allow more sound detail to be pressed in to the vinyl. Yes, this is highly dependent on ALL the various steps to make the record being done “just right” AND the quality of your vinyl set up. Such are some of the reasons a 12″ single can clearly sound better than the album track version.
Can someone who bought the Massive Attack Blue Lines vinyl saysomething on the sound? The 2012 remix is pretty bad on CD, I do prefer the orginal issue. I suspect that they simply pressed the digital remix on vinyl. It would ne a nice suprise if it is not the case and they did a proper vinyl edition.
Paul, what do you think about opening a age every week to allow people to discuss and review the albums that came out the week before. Im not sure how easy or feasible it is but its just a suggestion.
Mr. Gabriel got as well a new Relunch of the albums on LP half-speed remastered but this time at 33 instead of 45 and with all at same time, original inner bags and inserts included and mp3 download code as well.
The blurb says “Fathfully reproduces the originals” but So is the box set version with bonus track “Excellent Birds” and In Your Eyes moved to the end of side two.
Amazon has been showing 100th Window and Heligoland by Massive Attack being rereleased on vinyl but they disappeared on Friday and now show unavailable. I’m hoping that they come back
will there be a review of alison moyets’ sony 4?
I downloaded the Transparent Mix of Alison Moyet’s “Invisible” from the expanded edition of “Alf”. Unfortunately it is horribly compressed. As a result I cancelled my orders for the CD remasters of “Alf” and “Raindancing”.
The remastering on Alf is a tad on the loud side i do agree but Raindancing sounds a hell of a lot better.
I only ordered the last three, as alf never really clicked with me, although I will get it…I hate when they try to make older albums sound like newer ones
The Rolling Stones a double LP. It only runs at 42 minutes!!!!!!!!!
Totally agree. I would love to have this on vinyl but I am not going to shell out for a double album when the entire contents will fit on one LP so I guess I’m stuck with having to get it on CD. Bugger.
