The Beta Band / The Regal Years 6CD career spanning box set

Parlophone Records are to release The Regal Years (1997-2004) a six-disc career retrospective of material from cult British indie group The Beta Band. 

The set will include all three studio albums (with bonus tracks), the Three E.P.’s collection, a disc of live BBC sessions and a sixth CD featuring unreleased demos and additional live performances. In total 25 tracks are previously unreleased (see full track listing below).

The Regal Years (1997-2004) is issued on 7 October 2013.

  2. well, i seem to disagree with the comments thus far. £20 seems to be the price on amazon, which i think is good going for what’s on offer here. i will certainly be picking this one up!

    if i remember the film right, they could do with ITV or the BBC showing High Fidelity, there’s a scene in it that should help sell the set!

  3. No word on whether the set is remastered or not?

    Presence of just four demo tracks and complete lack of out-takes, genuine alternative mixes (rather than remixes) etc – which you’d have expected, especially on the dense layers of the early stuff – seems to indicate participation of the remaining 3/4 band has been pretty minimal.

  4. I’m a huge Beta Band fan, but there’s not all that much there to tempt me to shell out for what I imagine will be a fairly pricey set. Shame.
