“Frozen” soundtrack on triple vinyl LP
If you have young children, particularly daughters (guilty as charged m’laud) then chances are you’ve been hearing a lot of Do You Want To Build A Snowman? or Let It Go from the soundtrack to Disney’s most-successful-animated-film-of-all-time Frozen.
Well here’s an opportunity to show the youngsters that music didn’t always come out of a mobile phone or get played through tinny laptop speakers, because the Frozen soundtrack is being issued as a limited triple LP set, with coloured and etched vinyl presented in a six-panel gatefold sleeve (embossed and foil blocked). It comes complete with booklet featuring lyrics to the songs and images from the movie.
It’s not all about the packaging mind, because this set features 23 demos, outtakes and non-album tracks (the track listing mirrors the two-CD deluxe version).
This limited edition, individually numbered 3LP deluxe vinyl version of Frozen is out on 19 May 2014. Remember you’re buying it to educate your kids…

That’s a very good review, sounds to me as if they’ve cut a few corners with this one and still had the nerve to ask for a premium price.
I think based on that review i’ll not rush out to add this one to the collection, maybe if it gets reduced to £20 I might grab, but definitely not at the current price.
Hello Alan,
I sincerely hope word has already spread that this vinyl-set is a very bad case of rip-off.
In a couple of months £20 may become a realistic price. The goldrush peaked some weeks ago and prices e.g. on ebay continue to sink. That should tell us something about supply and demand. How I pity those ebay-smartguys who were hogging like 20 copies to refinance their condo. Well, not really.
I got mine last week, directly from Amazon Canada. 75 CDN$/50€ plus tax, shipping, UPS “brokerage fee”… yep.
Let me tell you as a friend: don’t hope for something really special that’s worth this steep price even closely.
Although the embossed cover looks very nice, the records are of very poor quality. They’re noisy and record No. 2 is almost unplayable because of constant clicks. Very annoying, especially during the orchestral passages. The records are packed in simple white paper-jackets (no artwork whatsoever) and don’t be as foolish as to believe that the they’re made from 180g-Vinyl, which would at least have been decent. Guess what: they are not.
Disney just got greedy. They made this quote-Deluxe-unquote 3LP-set as if it were some throw-away merchandise. I took the liberty of writing them a letter yesterday.
Cheers,
Christoph

I was just about to post about the popmarket deal, you beat me to it. Even if you get stung with customs, which will work at around £16 with the post office fee etc, it’s still only £56 total, so all in all a very good deal.
I’ve sent a price match to Amazon, let’s see if they’ll go for it and reduce today.
No price match yet… and the PopMarket deal sold out very quickly!
If anyone’s interested in buying this, POPMarket have it for £39.99 for 24 hours only!! Can’t understand how Amazon can charge so much!
This is also available direct from the Universal Store for £79.99
Ordered !! The daughter / collector combo way too irresistible !
Any word on how many in this “limited edition”?
I have two daughters and cannot escape this music… I probably have every song memorized by now.
I don’t know about the rest of the world, but the CD/digital version of this soundtrack has been at the top of the charts for WEEKS. It’s still the #1 selling album after 22 weeks on the charts. I’d say it might be one of the biggest sellers since Adele’s 21 by this point. I’m not surprised Disney is capitalizing by making an expensive vinyl version.
Ouch ! It’s a fabulous movie mind and I have even grown – on a good morning – accustomed to those first five or six vocal numbers on my daughter’s cd !! A richly deserved Oscar and “For the first time in forever” the first bona-fide Disney Classic in years.
99 pounds!? And a raft of demos and outtakes? Sweet goodness. I would think any kid would be happy with the plain old CD on this one. This screams pre-fabricated “collectable” to me.
Not only that, but whoever is charging £99.99 is committing highway robbery. Only $75 from the source:

Of course, outside of the locations they choose to ship (US, Canada) you might have to, ahem, pay a middleman. But more than double the original price is more than a bit much.
According to Disney, this is a US / Canada exclusive: “Unfortunately this is available in the US and Canada only and we have no information when and if it will be available in other countries but the website will be updated if so. Our apologies.”
ha ha Paul, fantastic write up…I thought it was just my house these songs were dominating the play list, I cant get my songs played for “Let It Go….”
My daughter also likes the Stranglers so I cant complain.
£99 is very steep for a triple LP, typical Disney prices.
Interesting… not something I’m personally after (not even seen the film as yet) but unexpected. I wonder what kicked that idea off, and if there’s more of this kind of thing to come… A mere £99.99 too!
