Deal alert / a-ha: Hunting High and Low five-disc super deluxe edition

a-ha_deal2

If you don’t mind waiting a few weeks for delivery, you can secure yourself a-ha‘s Hunting High and Low super deluxe edition for a fantastic price.

This really is an excellent set, packaged as a 60-page hardcover book with plenty of excellent photos evoking the era, along with images of tape boxes and some informative text at the front. Art direction and design is handled by Jerri Heiden, who did the design on the original.

The five discs contain the album remastered; demos 1982-1984; singles, extended versions and B-sides; an alternate version of the album using other mixes, and a DVD of videos.

This Hunting High and Low SDE is available right now for just £26.99.

P.S.

And the nice size of the book means I’ll be able to actually READ the liner notes/text!

Mine finally arrived a few days ago (in a ridiculously oversized Amazon box, laughingly ‘padded’ with a few scrunched up sheets of thick brown paper, LOL). I haven’t had the chance to actually open the item itself yet, but from the outside it looks lovely!

colin

It took a bit longer than a few weeks Paul. I have had an email TODAY telling me my item is on it’s way. Longest ive ever had to wait but at least I have had the MP3 top play in the meantime! Ordered April, Shipped in July! LOL

gwynogue

I’ve been watching the ‘Preparing For Dispatch’ green bar on my order page get longer and longer over the past few weeks – it was nearly full yesterday! But this morning it was gone and I got an e-mail saying they are waiting on a revised estimate from the supplier. Frustrating, yes – but I won’t be cancelling. The price was just too damn good – if I cancelled now and re-ordered later on it would cost me a lot more. Plus the listing now says the seller doesn’t ship to Australia, so I’d have to go hunting high and low somewhere else. (boom-tish!)

I just wish I could get a definite time-frame – I don’t have a credit card, so I’ve had to keep some money set aside in my account for when I’m charged. Money that would have come in handy over the past month but I was too scared to use because of the uncertainty.

gwynogue

Huzzah! Just got this e-mail this morning:

—– Hello,

Please be advised that we have a revised delivery date for the items you ordered on April 10 2016:
a-ha “Hunting High And Low (30th Anniversary Super Deluxe)”
Estimated arrival date: July 20 2016 – July 21 2016 —–

I don’t know if the arrival date refers to Amazon’s warehouse or to me. If it’s to me, I hope they don’t dispatch before Wednesday – if they charge me before then, I won’t have the money so they will cancel my order and I’ll have to go through this hoo-hah all over again (and at a much higher price too!)

gwynogue

Oops, spoke too soon! It seems the date was to me, because they tried to charge me a few hours ago – and like I said, I don’t have enough money so the payment failed. BAH!

But luckily it looks like the order wasn’t cancelled – I got this in an email:
– – – Your payment method will be retried automatically over the next few days. – – –
I don’t know how many chances I get, but hopefully they’ll wait until end of the week before retrying.

Sorry if my posts sound like self-pity/whining/crying poor. I’m not after sympathy – that’s not my intention.

gwynogue

Me again – payment cleared, on it’s way! Woo-hoo!

I didn’t see anything in my order about MP3s – I guess because I’m non-UK I’m not eligible for them.

Woody

Anyone actually received this from amazon yet? – they missed the estimated despatch date for my order and I’ve now had an e-mail asking if I’d like to cancel it…

Paolo Meccano

No, I’m still waiting for my copy :-/

Paolo Meccano

Arrived this morning :-) (Rattling around in a box which was far too big but hey, that’s Amazon for you)

Arnd

Can somebody tell me about the tracks on disc 4, labeled “early version” – are those the tracks produced by Tony Mansfield, before they were “remixed by John Ratcliff” (as credits say)?

If so, track #1 (video edit) makes no sense there, since it is an Alan Tarney production. The 1984 7″ version would make more sense in that place (i.e. if the other tracks are by Mansfield).

colin

Free MP3 rip from Amazon as well!

David Bates

Yes, I live in Dublin so no Fopps near me at all!

Francis

Ordered and waiting.

David Bates

This was £15 in Fopp recently. Don’t know if it still is.

Francis

Unfortunately not all of us live in towns and cities with FOPP shops on our doorstep. :o(

Jyo

Thanks for the heads up — even with shipping to the USA, it was under USD$40.

Gordon

Brilliant! First the Banana’s box, then the Grace Jones blu-ray audio and now this – thanks Paul, your deal alerts have saved me so much money!

Okay, so Grace wasn’t technically a ‘deal alert’…..but thanks to you and SDE, I was alerted to the much cheaper blu-ray format.

Ern

Thanks Paul. Really looking forward to this one.

Paolo Meccano

Thanks for the heads-up, Paul. I had my eye on the 2cd, but this is only £12 more.

Also, as I was never a fan of ‘The Living Daylights’ (never mind ‘Touchy’), I’d much prefer this to a greatest hits…

Mike the Fish

Paulo, I reckon the fourth disc in the set is way better than the demos disc. So if you were going to buy it in some form anyway the five disc set could be much more satisfying.

Paolo Meccano

Oh, I’ve already ordered it, don’t worry ;-)

mike

lowest since the 27.99 in November so keen.

Daltronica

Done! Only signed up for the newsletter yesterday and It’s already paying off. Thanks Paul.

Andrew

Bargain!! I already have it but at that price you almost want another!
