Alice Cooper / Billion Dollar Babies hybrid Super Audio CD (SACD)

Alice Cooper‘s 1973 album Billion Dollar Babies will be issued as a hybrid SACD by US audiophile specialists Audio Fidelity, early next year.

The record was a transatlantic number one at the time of release and features the singles Elected, Hello Hooray, Billion Dollar Babies, and No More Mr. Nice Guy.

A 2001 deluxe edition added 14 bonus tracks, but this reissue reverts back to the 10-track original album and is mastered by renowned engineer Steve Hoffman.

Billion Dollar Babies hybrid SACD will be released on 21 January 2014.

Can anyone tell me whether this SACD issue features a surround sound mix?

Fran Hearley

No. None of the recent Audio Fidelity SACDs have multichannel that I know of. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Now they need to make those original 1973 Quad mixes available on DVD-A or Blu Ray…The 2000 5.1 DVD-A was excellent, but there were a few things on that original Quad mix that they didn’t reflect (like the full stop ending on “Generation Landslide”).

As you may suspect I’m also another nut who has this in a bunch of formats: original 1973 LP with all inserts; Quad 1973 LP; 2000 2-CD deluxe edition & the 2000 DVD-A!

Looking forward to this one!

Well, as one of those crazy collectors who already owns this in various formats (a. o. DVD Audio and Quad-LP) I guess I’ll have to have this one, too!
