NewsDavid Bowie / Nothing Has Changed artwork revealed
I wasn’t going to buy the two-CD version of David Bowie‘s forthcoming Nothing Has Changed ‘retrospective’ (aka greatest hits) but it’s looks like I might have to, since it has the coolest cover of the three formats by far….
Yes, all three editions (3CD, 2CD and 2LP vinyl) will have different images of Bowie from different eras, and they all have one thing in common, David is looking in the mirror.
The three-CD set features a 2013 Jimmy King photograph, while the two-LP vinyl record has a Mick Rock shot of Bowie at his Haddon Hall home in Beckenham in 1972.
Cute concept, but I would definitely have liked to have seen the ‘Thin White Duke’ era cover large-scale on the vinyl. That photo (also used for ‘digital download’!) was taken by Steve Schapiro in 1975.

Are these real photos or are they made up in order to give the artwork some sort of theme? He wasn’t really photographed looking into mirrors at various points in his career, was he?
I assumed they were all real – it’s a very Bowie-esque pose, but I’m sure someone here can confirm one way or the other!
The 3CD edition and 10″ arrived yesterday although I only to play them this evening. Both are splendid additions to any Bowie collection. Sue has really grown on me today – I elected not to play it to death ahead of release – and I look forward to getting to know this track in more depth.
I also compared the content of Nothing Has Changed with the recently repackaged Sound and Vision 4cd set and am pleased to say that they complement each other nicely. Over 100 different Bowie songs grace the 2 releases with only 20 or so duplications (not all of which are exactly the same) so for £26 a beginner can get a brilliant career retrospective of Bowie’s work. The packaging is great too.

I’m going to buying this! Shock Horror!
Why? Well, a lot of the tracks are actually remixes or edits. I heard CD 1 today, and that alone was enough to make me get it, there are some fantastic versions of songs on there. My first impression was that it was simply a hits package – in fact it’s a hit package with a twist – yes some of the songs are the album versions, but the majority are not.

I’m a huge Bowie fan – but I won’t be going for this. I don’t know what the attraction is, to be honest. And the fact this is coming out around the time the Sound and Vision is being reissued is just bizarre, and presents a missed opportunity (if they had combined the two sets, I would have gotten it despite already owning the original S&V set.)
As it is…. not for me. Agree on the Tin Machine comment. Such a great period for Bowie, yet constantly discarded.

Great photos, but not interested in buying any of the albums, just the 10″ single. I see his albums are being released on one of the so called “high quality” CD formats in Japan at the end of the year. Does this prefigure a series of actual high res releases?

yes, has anybody the japanese tracklisting? would be great if the second new song (“’tis a pity she was a whore”), released here only on the 10″ vinyl, was a bonus track on the japan release!
I hope Bowie’s work will endlessly being respected and not sonically destroyed by a lousy master engineer job or the Loudness War…
Does someone know who will be the master engineer for these fine cds and LP?
I have a feeling they might end up using older remasters. Hopefully from 1998 onwards which were quite decent.
dammit. They always make them looks so enticing. I’m sticking with the 10″ of Sue.
