For my US friends that want the Motorhead box the LP set is cheapest on Amazon USA, but the 4 CD set is $7 cheaper than them on ImportCDs.com (factoring in their $2.99 for shipping).
Really looking forward to Fleetwood Mac Live and I think a big part of it is that for the first time I had the self discipline to not order the mixed format box and sit it out, (which I didn’t have to do for long). I think what swung me into that position, was that there wasn’t even a cheaper 2CD remaster on release and I found that a cynical move and a departure from what was available when the other five boxes were released. They are capable of offering superb value, look at the FMac 69 – 74 box. Let’s hope it’s a lesson learned.
Just ordered Grateful Dead, downloaded it, started playing it, immediately mellowed out, and now productivity at work has increased as I, and everyone around me, is tapping their toes and smiling..!! This is such a “Grate” CD. Thanks again to the wise and wonderful wizard Paul Sinclair for all you do for us..!!
Also out on Friday is the two CD Best of the Psychedelic Furs. I am hoping this might be a sweetner for the SDL of their back catalogue and more mooted in Mojo magazine a couple of years back.
I ordered the signed Yardbirds set when announced on SDE. It has been sold out for ages but is currently available as a Prime Day Deal. Same price, but I guess they have had cancellations.
Yes, and it actually let me order it to the U.S… After I signed up for the UK version of prime. Fully expecting it to be cancelled, but we shall see.
Paul, I know these maybe are not in the “sweet spot” for SDE, but I’d appreciate any opinion you may have on the Queensryche box sets that are released this week.
I was a huge Ryche Fan since The Warning but I will skip those boxes. All material has been released in the past. There is nothing new here. Missed opportunity sadly. I still play Rage for Order and just recently I discovered Dedicated To Chaos and I really like it. Peace
Thanks for your thoughts. I was a bit disappointed myself in the content of the boxes. I like a good live show as much as the next person, but I was hoping for demos or something else unreleased. I agree, these are a missed opportunity. That said, I went ahead a pre-ordered both boxes anyways from uDiscover as well as the Operation: Mindcrime vinyl, since I’ve never owned it on that format. Who knows, maybe these new remasters will reveal something.
I will give Dedicated to Chaos a try. Everything I’ve listened to post-DeGarmo has been a disappointment to me, but then again I’ve never given any of those albums more than one or two listens. Here’s hoping maybe I missed something. I still love those first three albums, plus the EP, so something that’s fresh for me would be great.
Thanks again!
Also out this week:
Miles Davis “Merci Miles! Live at Vienne” 2 CD and vinyl released by Rhino (Warner).
Nina Simone “The Montreux Years” 2 CD and vinyl released by BMG Rights Management (Warner).
Etta James “The Montreux Years” 2 CD and vinyl released by BMG Rights Management (Warner).
Vincent Neil Emerson “Vincent Neil Emerson” CD and vinyl released by La Honda Records (Membran).
I ordered the Yes vinyl set today using my $10 off Prime Day offer (for ordering earlier from a small business) which made it $149.99 with free shipping from Amazon US!
New Jack Savoretti album due this Friday too
Hello, According to Music Glue/ Gonzo Multimedia, the Yes uniion set are postponed to July 28. I just checked and the cd version is no longer available to order from Amazon France. Strangely enough, The Beach boys “feel flows” 5 cd version is also not available from Amazon france as of today. Best regards Hans
With Motorhead, Fleetwood Mac, The Grateful Dead and the Focus 50 3cd/DVD set it’ll be an expensive week this week.
How does Focus 50 boxset contains only 3 cd’s and dvd? I bought it in January 2021 and my version contains 9 cd’s and 2 dvd’s!
New live/studio set. Actually 3 CDs and a BluRay rather than a DVD…..

In Canada, at least, the Fleetwood Mac “Live” album comes out July 16, 2021.
Out this week, also, Merci Miles, an unreleased Miles Davis concert at the Jazz à Vienne festival, performed in july 1991, just a few months before his death. It is a truly inspired show (with two Prince songs) that has never been bootlegged before, with the exception of two songs. I’m not a huge fan of 80’s Miles, but his shows were excellent, and always different !
The Motörhead set is for the truly dedicated, all the shows sound very similar. It is a nice object, though.
Agree totally. Gone for the two disc set, gets the album, the bonus tracks and full concert. Can’t see the neighbours needing much more than that…..
