Pure McCartney 2CD edition

puremccartney2cd

Last week, when SDE revealed the packaging for Paul McCartney‘s Pure McCartney compilation we didn’t have an image for the two-CD version…

We can now correct this and as can be seen from the image above, as expected, this edition comes in what looks like a six-panel card wallet, possibly a ‘mintpack’.

The two-CD set has the lowest amount of tracks of any format with 39. The 4LP vinyl has 41 and the four-CD deluxe has 67.

Pure McCartney is released on 10 June 2016.

Depeche Mode is perhaps not the best example considering their pace of producing albums slowed down dramatically by the late 80s, and the latter compilation contains 2 discs with some of their biggest and most recognizable work. I agree, though, that that’s the general trend with most artists that continue putting out work for decades past their prime…

Arnd

MiG: That’s quite normal, I think.
a-ha, “25”: Disc 1 – 6 years; Disc 2 – 19 years
Depeche Mode: “Singles 82 → 86” — “Singles 86→98” …

Time’s not linear.

MiG

True! And how profound that is. But it’s a good case for having this 2CD set chronological, since then I’d only need to listen to disk one! The 2CD version, as the closest to a standard mass-market Greatest Hits on offer here, is probably going to be the most important of these releases.

Hmm, wonder how much would have been squeezed out if, George Harrison-style, he’d included the best of his Beatles work too?

Arnd

A 4-Disc Best Of by Paul McCartney without Hope Of Deliverance? Too bad.

Andrea

I don’t quite understand this:
“Venus And Mars / Rock Show Remastered 2016”

Have they newly remastered the V&M tracks which had been remastered in 2014?

Ben in Colorado

And Paul’s comment sums up my feelings about all McCartney “deluxe”/reissued items. For the price, they offer the least in audio content. Period. The fact the the single edit of Venus and Mars wasn’t on the 2014 “deluxe” edition alone is enough to make a collector want to pull their hair out.
Sure Macca’s deluxe editions have great books, but I think most people want music. And they dribble it out……. We are being played as fools.
Off-label recordings, or waiting for the artist to pass so that there might be a better chance of hearing what we want to hear, are the only options….
The original fan base is getting old, and can’t wait forever.

James K

They really should be in chronological order. Be nice to hear the progression over the years.

David Bricknell

Or “regression” depending on you POV!

MiG

20 tracks for the first 10 years, then 19 tracks for the next 37 years. (2CD version). The numbers tell the story…

So with the “Remastered 2016” songs, does that mean other albums for his Archive series have been remastered, or just these selected tracks? Hopefully the former, and maybe he pick up the pace a bit on the reissues! :)
