In January 2014 Charly Records will release Here Come The Nice: The Immediate Years Box Set 1967-1969, a lavish Small Faces package that celebrates the band’s 1960s career on Andrew Loog Oldham’s Immediate Records label.

This set features every worldwide hit single, A & B side plus EPs and rare and previously unreleased material, unheard recording sessions from Olympic, IBC & Trident Studios, outtakes, early mixes, alternate versions and live material.

In total, 75-songs remastered from original analogue master tapes and studio multi-tracks, presented across the four CDs. In addition three replica seven-inch vinyl records are included, pressed on red, white and blue vinyl. A fourth seven-inch replicates an original Olympic Sound Studios acetate that features an embryonic Something I Want To Tell You called “Mystery…”

This box comes with a 72-page hardback coffee-table style book complete with a forward by Pete Townshend and an introduction by surviving band members Kenney Jones & Ian Mac McLagan (who have also curated and supervised this set). The book contains rare and unpublished photos, sleeve notes by Mark Paytress as well as newly written contributions from the likes of Robert Plant, Paul Weller, David Bowie, Nick Mason and many more.

Additionally, fans will find in the book a track-by-track illustrated guide to every song on the box set and an interview with Gered Mankowitz on photographing Ogdens Nut Gone Flake.

A separate lyric book features the complete lyrics transcribed and endorsed by band members for the first time.

On top of all this is a host of replica memorabilia including two large posters (Tin Soldiers single and Newcastle City Hall live concert), the press kit for Ogdens Nut Gone Flake, five double-sided postcards, two art prints featuring shots from Gered Mankowitz’s 1967 Itchycoo Park photo sessions.

There will only be 3000 of these sets and they all come with a certificate signed by Kenney and Mac.

Here comes the frustrating part for British residents: this set is not being released in the UK. Charly Records do not own UK rights for this set. BMG-Chrysalis do have the rights in the UK and the word is they are working on something, but not this.

Here Comes The Nice: The Immediate Years Box Set 1967-69 is released on 28 January 2014

Vinyl seven-inch #1: Small Faces Album Sampler – One-sided promo single – Excerpts From The Small Faces L.P. (mono)

  • The original 7″ vinyl was issued as a promotional single for the debut Immediate album. Featuring excepts from Get Yourself Together, Green Circles, Talk To You, All Our Yesterdays, Up The Wooden Hills To Bedfordshire with DJ Tommy Vance announcements, the original vinyl has gone on to become the rarest Small Faces single amongst collectors.

Vinyl seven-inch #2: Here Come The Nice – French E.P.

  • Here Come The Nice (mono) – This is the same performance as the regular ‘Here Come The Nice’ mixed to mono but similar to other releases at the time, was subjected to varispeed so plays slightly faster.
  • • Talk To You (mono)
  • • Become Like You (mono)
  • • Get Yourself Together (mono)

Vinyl seven-inch #3: Itchycoo Park – French E.P.

  • • Itchycoo Park (mono)
  • • I’m Onky Dreaming (mono)
  • • Green Circles (mono)
  • • Eddie’s Dreaming (mono)

Vinyl seven-inch #4: Replica acetate: “Mystery…”

  • Intended to be a single, a handful of acetates of Mystery were produced for the band and Andrew Loog Oldham to check the mix. For unknown reasons, the single wasn’t released, and Ronnie went back into Olympic to record a new vocal during April 1967 for the newly entitled Something I Want To Tell You. This is a replica of the acetate delivered to Andrew Loog Oldham back in 1967.

Keith Fletcher

wow finally got a copy of this and a cool 85 Euros with postage from JPC Germany new and sealed.
best to get those European orders in before Brexit

ROFLnaked

I’ve read that Rod Stewart originally recorded a vocal for “Ooh La La” with the Faces, but due to some band squabbles, Ron Wood ended up doing the final vocal by default. Does anyone know if an outtake exists with RS’s original vocal for this tune? I would love to hear how this one sounds (back when he could really sing…)

Barrie Nield

Ignore “BURNING SHED” their ad is misleading they will take your money and then say that due to the UK law they cannot sell you this item. In my case they took my money on Jan 5th and notified me of the above on Jan 21st with a refund on Jan 22nd so DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! I’ve done what JOHN ABLE has done and gone via amazon us and it seems to have worked, but then again we thought that about “BS” I had a heated discussion with “BS” they referred to me as being stupid, i told them they were conning people, holding onto your money with a nice return on the interest. My total cost on amazon us was £126 total 13 days shipping.

Ron

Are you sure that is the total amount ? It could incur custom charge.

Barrie Nield

That’s what i paid after tax and postage.

Barrie Nield

Package arrived today, excellent service, great looking piece, very happy and NO extra costs. Stuff you “BURNING SHED” !!! £126 total can’t go wrong!!!!! My advice is to avoid ALL uk dealers and their HIGH mark up prices and go AMAZON US

David Walton

I did the same as Barrie Nield and got mine yesterday though. Be aware though that, by ordering through Amazon US as I did, you’re liable for Improt duty and admin charges that totalled about 38 quid for me.

Kirovabad

Today down to £162, still twice as much as Charly UK.

Kirovabad

This has appeared on Amazon UK yesterday for £218 !!
Surely a mistake as Charly are selling it for £95 for UK buyers.

Mr. Ska '57

Help me out here … I have all four of the 2012 reissues (five counting
There Are Four) plus the Immediate Album Collection and the Ultimate Anthology. How can one justify $143.91 for 75 tracks and a handful
of tchotchkes? Or is it the signed certificate ….

John Able

Pre ordered mine this morning from Amazon USA Live in UK. Exchange rate brings it to about £95.00 sterling. Can’t see the problem with that. I have ordered this way many times and other than having to wait about 3 weeks for delivery, works out great.

rare glam

Well paypal took my payment yesterday, even with that disclaimer on the site, maybe it’ll come back to me. I’ve emailed Burning Shed to ask for clarification but not heard back yet. Note that Spin CDs are offering the box set in the UK @£99
http://www.spincds.com/box-sets/here-comes-the-nice-immediate-years-box-set-1967-1969
That would be a lot cheaper than importing one from US Amazon

Ron Renton

Spin have just added £50 to the quoted £99 in your comment…
Now £149.99p.

Craig

It now states on the burningshed website ‘Please note that due to copyright restrictions this title is only available to customers outside the UK ‘ so I think you’ve had it ! If amazon US can ship it anywhere though I don’t see why other shops can’t due to copyright, although I guess amazon can do whatever they want!

Richie

I ordered with my credit card from Burning Shed but I reckon they BS, will probably cancel the transaction once they realise I live in the UK, because PayPal wouldn`t take my payment.

Worth a try though.

rare glam

Yes, I pre-ordered it @£95 + £7 courier postage in the UK yesterday (14th November 2013) from the Burning Shed website. There is one sentence that says something about being unavailable but I ignored that and orderd it anyway. They seem happy to have taken my paypal pre-order and I received a standard email reciept for the payment. SDE or UK readers should contact them for clarification. contact just to be sure.
