Music Magpie are again part of the Ebay 20% off deal by putting PURE20 in the discount code box.

Just picked up the Vinyl ACR limited edition 7LP box for £72.

Also of note the Kate Bush Vinyl boxes I, II and III work out between £27 and £29…

I was *this* close to pushing the button on both Leo Sayer Vinyl boxes as they are both cheaper than Amazon.

Jan

The Band ‘Big Pink’ box is £48 in HMV just now. Finally a reasonable price.

Two good offers at the moment:

Mark Knopfler’s latest album Down The Road Wherever is £12.99 for the double vinyl at HMV.

Kate Bush Remastered vinyl box III is €44.99 from Amazon Germany

With HMV having no online purchase facility at the moment their price cuts are not being matched by Amazon – The Knopfler album is £25.40 there. Other fairly recent releases in the HMV sale (subject to local availability) include Rod’s Blood Red Roses (Amazon £24 and Amy MacDonald’s Greatest Hits double (Amazon £28) both below £13 and most of the U2 re-releases including both Best Of’s around the same mark. Huge 50% savings on some boxsets including the Creedence Studio Half Speed Masters Collection which at circa £85 is £60 below Amazon , Clapton’s Life in 12 Bars less than £30, (his Xmas release is £7.99) Tom Petty Best of Everything around £32, and The Killers Career at around £85 which is £80 below Amazon!!.

Thanks for the alert, currently in HMV Chester and they had one Killers Box set left which I’ve promptly bought!, went into HMV Hull yesterday and they haven’t had a copy for a few months even at full price . Cheers

Chris Squires

Hats off to you Colin, just been into town to pick up my new specs and popped into HMV and just asked about the CCR boxset. There was nothing in the racks, no box and no card. The helpful lady checked the computer which pleasingly said they did have one from another store…..somewhere. Five minutes of checking later they found the beautiful, mint condition Creedence half-speed Vinyl box out the back and it was £83!!!! Way cheaper than I had ever seen it before and I just wouldn’t have asked but for this post saying it was on special at HMV.

Pays to read all the posts……

All of these mono vinyl pressings are available as stand-alone releases, because they sent Music On Vinyl the mono analogue plates when they re-issued the albums and then sony just used the same MOV stampers themselves for their releases.
Even – and this is the important bit – when they claimed to be stereo on the sleeves they are actually the Mono Fully Analogue pressings.
So don’t waste your money on this! Get the MOV pressings or the sony pressings currently available.

There is currently one exception to this rule – and that is The Freewheelin Bob Dylan where if you buy the most recent (I think it’s called WeWantVinyl on the sticker) that is a new stereo remaster, not mono.

Here’s the link:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Freewheelin-Bob-Dylan-VINYL/dp/B075865WJ9/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=freewheelin+bob+dylan+vinyl&qid=1560674699&s=gateway&sr=8-1
However, the older pressing IS MONO, this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Freewheelin-Bob-Dylan-included-VINYL/dp/B00L6600DO/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=freewheelin+bob+dylan+vinyl&qid=1560674777&s=gateway&sr=8-2

So – all titles released on vinyl by either Sony or Music On Vinyl between 2010 and now (apart from Freewheelin, and with that everything released between 2010 and 2017) is A Fully Analogue Mono Pressing – the same as the box set.

The new Richard Hawley CD Further is currently £4.99 on Amazon

David Parker

Ordered. Thanks. First band I ever saw live at 6 years old with my dad and brother in 1973.

Jarmo Keranen

Didn’t you lose your hearing or were your ears protected? I think they’re were one of the loudest bands of that time. To me 6 years old is way too young to go to rock concert even by todays standarts. I was 15 when i saw my first live gig in 1974!

Colin

I could see the £5 off Vinyl offer on my order page but it didn’t take the fiver off.
What did I do wrong? I tried to activate the offer but it didn’t work!
What should I have done to activate the £5 off Vinyl offer? Cheers.

Keith Lambert

Hi, did you use the code in the header of your e-mail from Amazon (it’s very small and easy to miss). Also, when you’ve placed the order, it’s misleading as the thing that jumps out at you is the original price of the item next to the picture in the order details; the price you actually paid is above that in the top grey bar. Hope that helps!

Ian Burgess

If it is the B sides you are after, try the double cd Slade B Sides. Came out on Union Square some years ago Amazon.co.uk have it atb£9.99

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five Star
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five Star

and I got a free £5 voucher…. bizarre …. double vinyl for £2…

North Cackalackyan

I grew up with quite a few of these singles, and found, for a change, that the b-sides were of the first water too. A great set that I’ve had my eye on. Cheers, Paul and all!

Kevin Aston

All the Slade spellings seem to be correct except Coz i Love You , should be Luv

Ann Coates

Surely that back cover of the Slade box isn’t the final version? As you say, it mis-spells ‘Luv’, the blurb is poorly written and it states ‘2018’…

Gary

Call me an old and confused bloke,
but I’m sure way back in the old days we couldn’t be happier
than upgrading audio quality from 7″ singles
to sensibly priced complete a and b side CD anthologies…???

Hint: if you really must have a 7″ vinyl
Slade experience,
open up freeware audacity software
and process a lossless flac file with low fi audio degrading plug-ins…
Then you can dance around your bedroom in Danette heaven…

Gary

Yeah.. I know, I’ve probably already got most of ’em..
[so many remasters and brickwalling choices to make..]
The old 7″ inchers are back home gathering cobwebs in my old mum’s attic..
The Dansette record player ended up in a skip…

Richard Fisher

Jethro Tull This Was boxset now down to £18.99 on Amazon UK.

hendry doran

Got an extra £5 off the Slade box set due to my wife getting a £5 vinyl voucher. Not a huge devotee of Slade but at that price I couldn’t resist. Still can’t get over seeing them as skinheads covering the Beatles “Martha my dear”
Thanks for the heads-up Paul

Chris Squires

I got one of those vouchers too, I did think it was a phishing scam at first, but no a fiver off for no apparent reason, I think it was because I bought Now II on vinyl the day before.

I got Howard Jones – Dream into Action on Green Vinyl for £16 with the bonus fiver.

SimonP2

As I understand it – the RRP of the Slade box is £49.99. Amazon had overpriced initially. Still great value and a £10 saving

Adam

Seems weird to have the ‘Night Starvation’ single in the Slade box set to me.

Danny

Slade box set at 3.90 isn’t a steal, come on (feel the noize)

We’ve got used to paying inflated prices from record companies, vote with your feet people!

BJ

Slade Singles Boxset to be released in September reduced by £50 on amazon. https://amzn.to/2RgXhCq

Richard

Village Green box currently 80 quid on Amazon U.K.!

Andy K

I would say “Buy!” to anyone wondering whether to take the plunge on the Prince set. I got it, appropriately enough, for £19.99 thanks to a previous SDE tip-off. I haven’t regretted it – imagine if Prince came round your house and played piano one day. It’s like that!

poptones

Wow! Bought R.E.M.’s box set a few weeks ago for €45 and I thought it was a bargain! €26 is a steal! Never thought the price could be that low as the original retail price was over €85.

At €85 it was overpriced but at €26 it’s a steal! What a difference!

Tony

Thanks Avid Collector, had my eye on that Def Lep 7 box for a while

John Sakamoto

The Prince deluxe Piano & A Microphone package is under $22 (13 pounds) on Amazon Canada, and has been for awhile.

Cary

thank you for the heads-up, ordered!

Daryl

Blimey – REM was over quickly!

David

Already gone!

Ty

I have no Atmos capability – is the blu ray any better than the DVD audio (which I have) thank you everyone

Tyrone

Can anyone tell me if the blu ray 5.1 is of any use without Atmos capability – I already have the DVD audio. Many thanks

Stuart

It is; I don’t have ATMOS however the Inxs Kick BR with Atmos plays fine on my BR player. In fact, I’d go as far to say that it’s the best sounding BR audio I own.

Tyrone

Thanks Stuart. I’ll bag it next time – the deal is over!

Derek Langsford

Don’t need an Atmos capable system to play the BR, it would default to 5.1. I have a 7.1+2 system with an Atmos capable player and amp and do have to agree the INXS Kick BR is stunning. Sound comes from locations between speakers. It’s unnerving at first but once you get used to it, it is spectacular.

Martijn

R.E.M. deal already seems to be over. Likely out of stock (for now) :(

Johnny

Gone in 60 seconds!? Can’t see the REM deal already.

tom m hans

REM 81 Euro @ amazon Italy? Is the link correct?

Julian

R.E.M. seems to be gone, darn. € 80+ now.

ROBERTO R

I just wanted to give the news about R.e.m. box you came first !
