beegees_newshot

The Bee Gees box set 1974-1979 is due for release in exactly a month and the above image gives you a better idea of how this five-CD clamshell box set will look.

This set includes four studio albums:  Mr Natural (1974), Main Course (1975), Children of the World (1976) and Spirits Having Flown (1979) with a bonus disc, The Miami Years, mopping up the killer tracks from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, plus some extras.

If you are wondering about the sound on these discs, this set utilises the mastering found on the 2013 Japanese mini-LP reissues.

Bee Gees 1974-1979 is released on 23 March 2015.

More a Super Cheap Edition than a Super Deluxe Edition this one.

Well another way of milking people from their hard earned cash. No wonder Spotify increases in popularity among music loving people out there. I am not even excited. :(

I’m a huge fan of retro label art on CD reissues so I love seeing the classic orange Reprise label art. However, it really doesn’t make any sense for this release since these albums weren’t originally on Reprise Records. If they could have gotten permission to use the RSO label art, that would have been perfect and awesome. Otherwise, I’m really not sure what they were thinking.

I agree with Mark.

Well, the Bee Gees’ “Mythology” had a fourth disc dedicated to little brother Andy’s best work. Would that count? I think it’s still the best single disc compilation of Andy. Just a thought.

Pop quiz – name any other box-set where the “bonus” album is actually far better than any of the “core” records in the set…
