The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan: Vinyl Extra: mono LP and CD combo

bob_freewheelin

Bob Dylan’s second studio album, 1963’s The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan will be reissued next month as a mono vinyl LP which also includes the mono recording on CD

The album features many Dylan classics such as A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, Masters Of War and Blowin’ In The Wind. This release is quite an attractive proposition with the mono album and CD available separately outside the 2010 mono boxes.

In fact, thanks to Amazon ‘autorip’ you get vinyl, CD and MP3 mono for less than £18.

The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan vinyl+CD is out on 15 September 2014 and a few weeks earlier in other territories.

This is another ridiculous grey-area “import” (i.e. counterfeit in the U.S.), isn’t it? I wish you’d stop covering these.

Checking on the UK page…
“Label: Sony Music Cmg”

Needless to say, you should be safe. However, I will say that I think buying the Mono Recordings CD set would be a better idea. Plus, you can already get the mono albums individually on iTunes and AmazonMp3.

Can’t beat the Mofi 45rpm edition. Stellar.

I dont rate the quality of autorip at all seems a waste of time to me

Fat Old Bloke

I’d be happy with just the CD in mono

I got the mono CD box for less than £50, bargain and well worth much more, quality sound, music and booklet. If you can get it for less than £90 it will be a bargain.

Somewhat off-topic but the first time I ever saw that album cover was in an article in the NME or Melody Maker (can’t recall which) back in the 70s where they had added a couple of speech balloons as follows:

Bob: “Abraham begat Isaac, Isaac begat Jacob, Jacob begat Judas….blah blah blah”
Woman: “I’m sorry but I must begatting home!”

I can’t look at that cover without remembering…

Well it’s a bonus if you get the stereo. Both mixes for the price of one.

Is it actually legit that you’ll get mono mp3s with auto rip? It’s my experience that it’ll just default to any rip they happen to have on their servers, if the title matches. I’m willing to bet they’ll be the same files you’d get if you ordered a stereo CD.

Pretty sure when I pre-ordered the Nick Drake vinyl boxes from last year, I got auto rips immediately – and they were just rips from previously released CDs – and obviously not the ones behind the download code in the box. Big difference.
