PopMarket is ridiculous period! 4 orders now and 4 fiascoes. Every time I order from them I end up thinking ‘what the hell is wrong with these people?’ I’m not a difficult or hard-to-please customer- I order what is advertised, pay, and expect to receive item in reasonable amount of time. That is all. Should be simple enough, but never is with them.
I managed to pick up the John Cooper Clarke set new and sealed from eBay for £4.99 with free delivery a few days after release. I was expecting to get an email a day later saying they didn’t have one in stock, but it arrived 2 days later and nothing wrong with it. Lucky, I guess!
Great tip re James box set at Universal. Even with £6.95 postage it’s £9 cheaper than Amazon Uk.
Regarding outrageous postage etc, I just looked into buying 2 Cream box sets from recordstore uk .I’m in Australia and not only do they not remove VAT , they calculated £39.99 postage.Amazon uk only charges £3.58 on any item I have ever purchased and it gets cheaper for second , third items etc, and of course they remove VAT. Long live Uk Amazon .
The Rush box is €24 now!
I picked those Rush box sets up from Amazon Germany for less than£55 (3 Box Sets) from Amazon Germany earlier this year.
Does anyone know if any of the deals were already history when they went up on sale for the non-prime-user on amazon?
There was some Bob Dylan left, post-Prime, but it didn’t last very long.
I wouldn’t buy anything from Popmarket again. They dropped the prices but upped the postage to ridiculous levels about 18-24 months ago. E.g. Mark Lanegan set is tempting at £52.99 but shipping is £25. And they are a customs magnet so work that potential extra cost into it too
It’s true enough. Unless it’s some kind of mega-deal, with shipping costs and worries about import duty, PopMarket remains of limited interest to a European audience, I think. But for those in the US/Canada it’s pretty good, I think.
Unfortunately PopMarket has ridiculous shipping to Canada as well, which negate any possible deals – so pretty much a good deal for those in the US.
BTW, the Grace Jones set went for 39.99
Thanks.
Bugger, I wanted the Grace Jones vinyl boxset and forgot about it but at 4% claimed Im sure it will be on again later in the week.
Does anyone know what price the Grace Jones box went for, in the end?
Wow recordstore have the best deals this time!
Derek, that company is a whole load more attractive to me than Amazon, so thanks!
Nirvana’s Nevermind Super deluxe is live on Amazon.de now. 49.99 Euro around £36, just under £40 to the UK.
James Laid/Wah Wah is £19.99 on the Universal music store
They had the SDE of Dubnobasswithmyhead for the same price, but it looks to have sold out now, along with quite a few others….
Recordstore.co.uk have some good deals this week too:
https://www.recordstore.co.uk/recordstore/Black-Friday
Lots of similar pricing to the hideously named “Great Offer Store”…
The Dylan box was just over $100 on Amazon US for a long while. I see its back up to $200 or so which usually means they’ll offer it at a discount so people think they are getting a steal.
The Dylan box rarely goes below £100 on Amazon UK, so £80 is a good price.
Pop market has the tusk box set for 85 usd
Is that s good deal or wait
Good if you’re in the US, but it’s very cheap on Amazon UK relative to US.
Tusk os $90 on Amazon USA and $85 on Popmarket. That’s hardly worth it. I would wait 6 months or so and you can pick it up from one of the Amazon sellers for probably $60 or so.
The Bruce Springstreet “River Box” is also not much discounted on Popmarket. Only $10 cheaper. That’s nothing compared to what one of the Amazon sellers will sell it for 6 or 7 months from now.
Not really good deals for USA residents so far.
Trouble with Popmarket is the postal costs for us in Europe, also in the UK there are import duties and extra postal charges.
I have `Tusk` and `The Ties That Bind`on order for less then Popmarket are asking.
Paul
Thanks for the heads up on the UK Price. Will have to pickup
Jeff, do not buy it from popmarket. if you buy it from amazon.co.uk and are willing to wait a week or two more, you can get it for 64USD (S&H included)
I’m in New York City and paid $61.60 USD (incl. overseas shipping) for “Tusk” via Amazon UK.
great price for Dylan, I can imagine a lot of Prime members taking that deal, but there might be a few left for us non members :)
I bought the Dylan box for £84 from Base.com only a couple of weeks ago, brand new fully sealed. Just checked and it is still £84. Who needs bloody Amazon with their lightning “deals”….
Price is going to be £79.99
Thanks!
That is the price I bought it for in January this year from Amazon.
I don’t much care for this Amazon prime thirty minute head start malarkey. Seems like a way of getting people to subscribe with the potential of getting something with 20% off that was probably 30% overpriced to begin with.
The Dylan set went for £62.99, back in July, when Amazon.UK had a Prime promotion.
That’s a hell of a price for this set.
I should be able to confirm the Dylan price around 5.15pm (15 minutes before it goes live) if that helps anyone, saves people hanging around if the price isn’t what you expected.
That would be great, Alan :)
Anyone want to guess on what the Dylan will be?
£80, maybe?
You can get the JCC set for as little as £14 if you shop around.
Amazon UK offering nothing special as usual.
John Cooper Clarke is £16.99
